Fined for NOT human trafficking

I had an old Vogue US magazine from the early 2010 that I wanted to sell. It had Rihanna on the cover, so I titled the listing “Vogue US March 2014 - Rihanna edition”.

As with many magazines I sell, the AI takes a few minutes to sort out through the photographs I made of the pages because it gets confused about all the articles and pictures, trying to figure out what I’m selling, I guess. Out of experience, I’m careful not to photograph anything on the page with a brand name like Chanel, because the AI has the discerning power of a block of cheese. I carefully photographed a few pages, wrote the description, highlighted the Rihanna interview and thought I was safe. WRONG.

I got a warning for false advertisement, which only went away when I removed the name Rihanna from the listing name. Because you see, in its infinite wisdom, the AI thought I was… claiming to sell Rihanna.

For 10 bucks.

You just can’t win, man.

The Yusupov letter archive

This blog is publishing letters from the Yusupov archive, starting with 1917! There are letters both written and received by Felix and Irina (often to each other), dealing with the aftermath of Rasputin’s assassination, the minutiae of their life in exile and their extended family.

Irina had quite an interesting dynamic with her husband, not at all what I expected.
