fucking amazing love it

now what do i watch for contiuned feel vibe that hangs in the after math of getting done with it please all of the shows im divorced once widowed once just me and stout space cat 2000 and yes thats the cats full name cuz im 37 point of saying all that is to say i have alot alot of free time so i need an insanely long list of suggestions one cuz ill have watched alot and two listing age gives info for what cultural things ill be best attuned to or what ill have cotext for anyway yeah please suggestions and 3 free time sooo much free time all the time being labeled mentally ill becuase of our belif in how the reality works is werid your society is weird

oh and gen kill so fucking good i couldnt stop watching i would have done it in a day but i started it late in my hypo mania run so crashed ranomly around ep 5 so didnt take lonng to fin the rest this eveing, i really just enjoyed the whole show why i ended up joining fourum in way im sure itll make y background show rewatch list which is short

i really don’t have too much to say about mainly bc i haven’t been reading the book lately and im not far in at all, but im rewatching gk and i really feel like he’s bit sketchy. that could also be bc of loyalty to islam and stuff or what anyone higher up told him told him to say i js want some opinions!!

i got on gk a few months ago, got the book a couple days ago and now on a trombley deep dive bc fascinates me. me personally i don’t think trombley is a psychopath i think he wanted to be accepted by his fellow marines especially bc he was the youngest and also bc he didn’t go through the training the other guys when threw. him being the youngest and not training how they did, i feel like he had to seem hard like he was as tough as them. i also think he was definitely a like over exaggerated in the show compared to what actually happened. but i could be completely wrong lmk your thoughts.

Finished yet another re watch of GK. During the credits of “bomb in the garden” there’s a recording of someone saying things like “ an m16 was my wife..I ate concertina wire and could shoot the hair off a flees a$$ at 300 yards” it sounded like a real recording from that time so I was wondering if anyone else has asked this or figured out who’s voice it is.

So I thought I'd watch Das Boot again, since it had been many years - and what suprised me is the way it's told on the submarine using a Reporter/War Corrispondant - and everything is explained to him, the inner workings of the things all these men are expert in and would never explain otherwise.

And of course it made me compare that to Generation Kill - except Evan wasn't made up for the convenience of an audience surrogate... he's fortuitously just there, writing and framing the story as a newbie. It's so perfect a surrogate that Das Boot (and other stories) invent such a person just to try to bring the audience up to speed....
