Liang pi from scratch - a lot of effort but delicious

Takes a day to make including washing dough to release the gluten which is then steamed to create beautiful spongy steamed gluten.

The starch water has to rest for 6 hours and then the noodle sheets are steamed individually for a few minutes which takes about an hour.

However when assembled with beansprouts, cucumber, garlic water, chilli oil, soy sauce and black vinegar it's one of the most delicious cold noodles.

A day's prep eaten in 5 mins 😋

Is an AAV the solution to gurgling bathroom sink?

I had my bathroom redone about 3 years ago and while the job was mostly fine, the workers I used were what I would say boarder line cowboys. I'll spare all the details but I'm pretty sure they cut some corners and were not very careful with the furniture.

Anyhow the main issue I've noticed (and I stupidly didnt mention it on completion so it's not a new issue) is that anytime the sink fully drains it gurgles. The sink also gurgles when the bath fully drains. I can see that there are 2 waste pipes so. im guessing they cut corners by either linking the sink with the bath or the bath with the shower in someway.

The floor is tiled with a heat mat underneath and this issue is not big enough for me to want to tear up the flooring so I'm wondering is installing an AAV the best solution?

I'd want minimal fuss install if poss. Including pic of beneath sink for reference.

What do you think this would cost to do this, and is it the best option?

Thanks!

Potential Soft Tissue Sarcoma. Freaking out but an unusual situation.

Hi I'm the owner of a beautiful Himalayan boy called Harpo. He's 13 years old and is like a son, I've had him since he was 6 weeks old.

Last week whilst petting him I noticed a mass beneath his skin towards his back above the spine. It appeared to have developed suddenly as this is a typical area I would pet him and it was the first time I had detected it. It was soft and moveable about the size of a jelly bean or chewy sweet.

I took him to the vet last week and they performed an FNA test. I just received the phone call from the vet saying results were inconclusive but they suspect it is a soft tissue sarcoma which is obviously bad news and heartbreaking.

However, I explained to the vet that about 3 or 4 days after the FNA, the mass has completely disappeared. I have checked Harpo thoroughly and cannot feel the lump anywhere.

The vet thinks this is unusual but potentially good news and from my little online research I can see that FNAs can potentially puncture cysts and benign lumps. Given the FNA was not conclusive it is possible the soft tissue sarcoma was a misdiagnosis but I might just be trying to make myself feel better.

Have any of you fellow owners experienced anything like this? I am going to take him in tomorrow for the vet to check him out and we will then decide what to do.

Not really sure what the purpose of this post is - maybe I just need some reassurance as I'm fearing the worst.

Would value and appreciate any advice.

Thank you. ❤️

Thoughts on the Morisson Tomahawk

Enjoyed today's cook. Smoked for an hour with some hickory wood prior to the sear. Served with tiger prawns and asparagus and beef tallow potatoes.

For £12 it was a great value piece of meat and it made far too much food for my wife and I (steak sarnie incoming tomorrow). I would say it's noticeably lower quality than a premium priced tomahawk - quite a bit of sinew and scraggly bits so perhaps not as well trimmed as a butchers cut. However it was £12 - frankly a ridiculous price!

Hope there's more offers soon 😊

Ice cream

My wife bought me a ninja creami and I would like to try and make coffee ice cream. I don't have an espresso machine and I only drink a filter coffee - mostly pourover or aeropress.

Do any of you have experience making ice cream using pourover? Would you be able to recommend a recipe?

Thank you so much!

Arabian Nights not growing well

I'm creating a patch with about 30 plants. Most were started indoors in March and have been planted out over the last month. I have an Arabian Nights that has very thin stems and small leaves. Any idea what is going on?

How long to cure?

This has been going for a year, I don't expect the big sticks to breakdown anytime soon but how long do you think I'll need to let this cure?

Support local butchers!

I see several posts about buying imported beef or pork for BBQ. Honestly best thing you can do is buy locally. I'm very fortunate to have an exceptional local!

Removing oils from dripper

I'm using the timemore crystal dripper but it's pretty rank with its build up of oils. Any suggestions for cleaning? I can't seem to get anything to work!

First mow post renovation

Posted a while ago about my overseeding project and now had first mow. Very happy with results. To recap I scalped, scarified, aerated, levelled and overseeded in late march and covered with horticultural fleece. It's been out of the fleece about a month with watering 2 to 3 times a day.

Still a fair amount of meadow grass in there despite the scalping but I'm fine with it. Main thing is it's full and the ground is no longer bumpy!

Before and after pics attached.

Thighs smoked skin side down for about 50 minutes. Then skin removed and cooked fat side down to crisp up like bacon. Served with homemade chocolate habanero hot sauce mayo and pickled jalepeno peppers. Bun from sainsbury the only thing that could be improved!

Just received a rather unnerving bill of £1028 for electricity over a series of dates between 2020 and 2022!

I'm a bit confused as all bills and readings were made and settled at the property in question before moving out.

I've found an example of a bill covering the first period mentioned as an example.

Surely I can't be billed so far back, even after settling and closing that particular account?

Any advice most welcome, thanks!

UPDATE:

Octopus noticed there was a historical meter error that was incorrectly billed more recently so nothing owed from that period, and in fact, now that it's been corrected, they owe me £24.45.

Panic over! Thanks all.
