My first habanero
Been growing chillies for about 5 years now but never grown habaneros before. Can't wait to try these.

Been growing chillies for about 5 years now but never grown habaneros before. Can't wait to try these.
Bought a random purchase whilst in the garden centre a few months ago, very small chilli plants. I've had success growing indoor plants so thought I'd give chillies a go.
I bought this Buena mulata plant
2 hot emon chilli plants (gave one to a new guy in work)
1 grandads revenge plant
1 yellow jalapeño plant
I'm in the uk so it's pretty dull most of the time so put them in my south facing kitchen window which also retains the warmth all day/night and is so bright during the day.
They grew bigger, the sun here has been absolutely mental so I repotted them and put them in the garden.
Been using a tomato plant feed and obviously rain water.
This is the only one to grow so far, although the jalapeño plant has started to grow a few around 1 inch long.
Have I done ok for my first time? These are big but wondering why the rest haven't grown anything yet.
Hi,
My 2nd year with this Yellow Sugar Rush Chilli Plant and I’m worried it’s dying.
The plant is in a warm, sunny spot. Gets watered once a week and since it started flowering I add in a bit of plant feed.
Over the last couple of days leaves have started going black / brown and just dropping off at an alarming rate. There’s no bugs I can see on it.
Any help what I could do to save it please?
This is my first year growing chillies, I’ve been growing them in the conservatory and putting them outside during the warm spells when there is no wind! One is jalepeno and the other is apache, how do I know when they are ready to pick? Do they get hotter the longer you leave them on the plant?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Chocolate Ghost grown from seed at the end of January. Potted up to this 25 litre approx. 5 weeks ago. The brown pods you can see are only 2cm in length whereas I thought for a bhut jolokia they should be much bigger before they turn colour?
I’m growing other varieties too including standard ghost pepper, Armageddon, habanero and those plants and their pods are sizing up as you would expect for the time of the year in the UK.
(Ignore the deadheaded marigold…I’m trying something! 🤣)
Lost all my chilli labels and I’m growing >20 varieties. Any idea what this is? Or is it too early to tell?
Started mid march with no lights, i put them out to early - made some mistakes but still have a good amount of plants alive still - a greenhouse woulda been nice but this recent weather has helped loads
I have no idea wtf i have growing atm. My seeds where in a set of 5. Anaheim, jalapeno, cayene, habanero and naga somethig
I didnt label anything because i thought i might remember but not a chance i have no idea so it will be a lucky dip am guessing
Still i have loved checking these plants daily they keep my mind bizzy
I could do with some
Bigger pots but i am making do with what i have- next year i will prob buy fabric grow bags
Just for context I transplanted them outside 2 weeks ago. They are growing in around 5 gallon/18L of tomorite grow bag substrate each and the reason they're half full is because I bought the wrong size fabric pots by accident. I sowed the seeds indoors at the start of April. I'm in greater Manchester.
A lot of them lost leaves when I transplanted them and only one of them has flowers. I'm not really sure what to do to help them grow. I water them every 2-3 days or when the substrate feels dry. I have a mix of baccatums, chinense and annum peppers. The tallest are like 25cm tall.
Anything I can buy or do to help them out? I'm not sure they need fertiliser because the leaves are kinda curled but maybe that's due to how sunny it's been recently. Id appreciate any advice these peppers are so finicky .
First pepper from overwintered Jamaican Jerk orange habanero. It's going into a Pico de Gallo salsa to add a bit of extra heat to this afternoon's barbecue.
Very bad condition of them all out in the sun today.
Soil was like dust when I potted it to a bigger pot. A few heads on this one so hopefully I'll have something coming through next week. Best of the very bad bunch.
I’ve been away and had someone looking after my plants for me. As you can see, I have a small ‘poly tunnel’ type thing going on to shade them from the elements, but I left it off this morning on my raised bed habaneros.
Considering it’s reached 33 degrees today, and there’s been full sun on these all day, they haven’t wilted once (apart from the bottom leaves that matured indoors). I’m also not seeing any sun scald or anything at all?
Big one in the middle is now at 45cm, so getting there for a habanero but the front row I think are a bit more restricted by bed depth.
Pulled them out of the greenhouse for a health check, and they are doing really well!
Good growth, no health issues, no bugs, and lots of flowering and fruiting in progres!
It's been a great growing season so far 😊
Warthog x 3, Golden Primotalii, Lingria, Peppa Peach, Chinese 5 Colour.
Every day I come out and another pepper has been munched. There are other plants fruiting nearby but they only go for this one. What could it be and how do I control it?
