Good source for large branches?

I've got a 4x2x3 arriving soon and I want a couple of large branches for it; usually I collect locally but there's nothing really down right now that's suitable.

Does anyone have a good source for branches big enough to form a centerpiece in that? I was thinking using 2-3 big ones with some smaller branches mounted to them.

Holster for mark 4

One that’ll fit a suppressor and red dot? The LGS had a few holsters but nothing that’d fit it with the can on

My neighborhood herping spot is gone

It's gonna be a goddamn walmart. Been using this grassy field with a small (seasonal) pond in at as convienent neighborhood herping spot since we moved out here a year ago.

Got bulldozed this week, and there's a coming soon sign.

Had seen Western ratsnakes, eastern copperheads, western ribbon snakes, yellowbelly racers, cricket frogs, bullfrogs, rio grande chirping frogs, spotted chorus frogs, red eared sliders, green anoles, spiny lizards, broad headed and five lined skinks, little brown skinks. A huge variety of birds from great blues to painted buntings to brown creepers.

Now it's gonna be a fucking parking lot and a walmart. Nothing left.

I just needed to vent; I've been pissed off and wanting a drink since the bulldozers leveled it. It was one of the few good things about this place.

supressor and red dot for a Mark VI?

I ordered a Mark VI with threaded barrel and pick it up tomorrow. My plan is to suppress it and slap a red dot on it and enjoy the hell out of it as a plinker for myself and my kids

I'd like a reasonably good red dot and supressor but don't really want to put another 800 towards the gun so I'd like to keep the combined total under that

Double action 22s that aren’t 1k?

Took the oldest to the range today with some 22s and brought a couple of 357s along loaded with 38.

Long story short we wound up doing 100+ rounds through my old rough rider (most fun 99 dollars ever spent even after 10 years). But now we both want a decent double action. I’d prefer available new so I don’t have to hunt around pawn shops hoping to be lucky. the only ones at the range were some (really gorgeous) Smiths. Any good recommendations on affordable double actions?

Follow up questions about stinkpot setup

I'm looking for options for plants; I have duckweed galore from when it was an anglefish tank, but I'd like more options. Anything tough and hardy enough that'd do well in a 75? I'm open to sumberged, floating, and emergent if I can tie it to the driftwood basking platform

I'm also looking for advice on diet and supplementation scheduling.

I'm particularly wandering about feeding shrimp and crawdads from the grocery store as a consistent part of the diet, as well as turtle pellets and feeder insects. And I'm open to advice on what's available and safe--I've read that snails can transmit a few types of parasites so I'm nervous, but if there's a good source for safe snails I'd love it.

What’s with Mesilla Valley Bosque?

Seriously 7-4 as the admission hours for a state park is ridiculous. Particularly as it’s usually self pay anyway. Can we have it open more hours?

I wanna bird there at first light damnit

Setting up a tank for a stinkpot, double checking what I'm planning

I've got a lot of snake experience, but not really turtles. Had one RES that was an uwanted gift that I kept outside in a stock tank that wasn't as raccoon proof as I thought it was, but that's it.

I've got a now empty 75 gallon (48x18x21") aquarium. Was thinking a large sponge filter, using driftwood and cypress knees for basking (since that's how I see them bask in streams ponds). With a UV light, probably a 12% T8, and a 25-50 UVA basking light for heat and UVA over one or two of the spots.

Probably filling it to a depth of about 16", so the lights would be 6" or so above the turtle. Substrate I'm thinking of sand, and leaving duckweed going (from the prior setup that had run for years). Maybe with hornwort or anacris and possibly with sailfin mollies or guppies in the tank as well (I'm willing to accept some predation here). The tank still has assorted pond snails from the old anglefish colony that had been in for...about 8 years I think?

I loved watching these guys when I lived near a park with a good population. So having one in the living room sounds fun, but I want to set it up well.

You’d think I starve her

My desert king is incredibly food motivated…launched herself (and some substrate) out of her cage and had the (F/T) mouse wrapped mid air and never quit constricting it while I picked her up and put her back.

She’s easily my most reliable feeder, and almost always visible in her cage (even if it’s just a coil sticking out of a hide)
