In-game Goalie injuries

Since EA is too incompetent to have in-game injuries for goalies I decided to implement a quick easy way to simulate injuries.

At the beginning of each season I pair players with goalies and if the player is injured I sit out the goalie as well.

I base the number of players paired to each goalie off of their durability. So a durability in the 90s is 1 player, 80s is 2 players, and 70s is 3 players.

To pick the players I just put everyone’s number on a randomizer wheel and spin it.

I feel like this helps add some realism for people who play every game (obviously not an issue for people who just sim).

Anyone else do anything similar?

Trevor Jobe and Nick Niedert: Hockeydb’s longest profiles

Both of these players played between 30-40 teams in their minor league careers.

Jobe is one of the most prolific goal scorers in minor league history scoring nearly 600 goals in North America and over 800 including his stints in Europe

Niedert’s list would be much longer if you included teams he signed with as an EBUG and never got in the game.

After the 04-05 NHL season was officially canceled the Motor City Mechanics of the UHL signed Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher, Sean Avery, and Brian Smolinski. They won 18 of their final 19 games including 12 wins to end the season…..they still missed the playoffs.

There were a handful of NHLers who played in the UHL during the lockout year most notably the short lived MC Mechanics

Molly McMaster: Hockeydb’s most unique profile

For some background during the 05-06 season the UHL had an initiative called UHL Cross-Checks Colon Cancer and had colon cancer survivor, Molly McMaster, be a part of the initiative.

She played one shift for each team in the league and ended up producing one of the more unique Hockeydb profiles. She also is technically the record holder for most teams played for in one season.

The fan giveaway for the games were plush enema dolls lol

edit: I believe the 10 minute misconduct was an equipment related penalty, but like everyone else I would love to know the story behind it as well

Will NHL27 have Player Lock?

It’s currently the only sports game without player lock.

Personally I don’t like what player career modes have evolved into. I don’t care about storylines, going bowling with teammates, how many followers I have, etc. I just want to play the game as my player.

Every other sports game has a player lock that you can do in franchise mode.

I wish they would nerf X-factors

I know this is probably an unpopular opinion but I feel like the gameplay is much better and more realistic playing without X-factors.

Im currently playing a custom franchise with no NHL players so there are little to no X-factors. The shooting, hitting, and scoring are all way more realistic. The X-factors just make this game feel too much like an arcade game

I think a good middle ground would be having an option to turn them off completely.

I’m hopefully they’ll add another forward and I think they move one of the defensemen as well.

Does the Byram trade increase the chances of Korchinski getting traded?

Assuming a long-term deal is already in place for Byram and with Vlasic already signed long-term that doesn’t leave Korchinski much ice time on the left side to develop.

Some guys can play both sides but I still don’t see Korch in the top 4 so a fresh start somewhere else might be best.
