As we say in my country: If you are afraid to die, dont born. -I asked him out 🤡

Hi Guys! It’s me reporting from denmark. For context: argentinian, 34 years, trying to find a LTR in this pond of poop called going on dates on Hinge in Copenhagen being a latin and chubby short girl.
I matched with a guy -dane- and he told me that was looking for a LTR, we had a really nice talk on Hinge, he was flirty and telling me im cute, and set up a date right away, which was great because I’m exhausted of dealing with these men that are on dating apps but wont date.

He have a lot in common and are politicaly aligned, we talked A LOT and I could feel he was engaged, However, the guy dont drink alcohol and I didnt drank too, and it’s hard for me to flirt being sober. He told me I’m hard to read and i havent felt any sexual xhemwstry, even though I really wanted to kiss him, but I’m too shy to do that being sober.

Late that night, he sent me a text asking if i got home safely and told him that i wanted to see him again. He told me yes, but i sense he wasnt convived.

How you guys feel if a girl invites you out? I’m
Giving desperate vibes? I’m so tired of pretending not to be interested, i asume i will find out sooner or later but guys what do you think????????

The torture of being ugly in Denmark

Need to take this out of my chest and get to know other experiences of fellow non-conventionally looking people living in scandinavia 🥀

I’m a 34-year-old Argentine woman. Back in Argentina I worked as a journalist, I was recognized for my work, I had lots of friends, I had relationships, and there were people who found me attractive.
A year and a half ago I moved to Denmark to pursue a master’s degree, and ever since then my self-esteem has been at rock bottom and I don't know how to navigate this feeling.

In this country, the average girl looks like a Chanel model by default: blonde, tall, skinny; the generic image of what is considered a gorgeous woman. The men all look like Prince Charming from *Shrek*.
I’m not even attracted to those kinds of people. I like guys with distinctive, unconventional features. But I feel like 99% of people don’t think the way I do, and wouldn’t date someone like me because they’d be embarrassed to be seen with a woman like me—especially one who works as a housekeeper in a country driven by aspirational success.
I feel like this is a country where fitting white, European beauty standards and blending into the crowd is highly valued. Everyone wears the same beige, gray, or navy blue clothes, the same makeup, the same fake tan. Everyone has the same nonchalant, distant, untouchable attitude.
I’m everything they aren’t and I feel like an alien.
An Argentine friend once told me that, as a Latina, I’d probably be fetishized here. That hasn’t happened. I’m short, chubby, and poor, in a country where being white, having money and being someone worth showing off on Instagram seems to be top priority.
The women look at me as if I were the elephant at the zoo. I feel like they can’t understand how someone like me walks around wearing clothes that show my huge fat ass and my stomach, because unless you’ve had liposuction, those two things usually come together in the same chubiness combo.
I really want to be in a relationship, but I honestly don’t know who would want to be with me, because I feel like I’m everything they dislike.
I dated a Danish guy for five months (he wasn’t white), and he told me he was very attracted to me **because of my personality** and because I was different from other women. But I don’t know if he ever actually thought I was beautiful, and it hurts so much to think that this is how I’ll always be seen—that the only card I’ll ever have to play is my **personality**.
I’d really like to hear about other people’s experiences.
Love from an ugly Girl.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CHANGE MASTERS??

Hi everyone!

I have a question.

Im an Argentine student currently doing a master’s degree at RUC, and I deeply regret my choice. The good news is that I’m about to start an internship at one of the largest NGOs in Denmark, and thankfully I won’t have to take any more courses at RUC except for writing my thesis.

That said, I would really love to switch to another master’s program. There is a program at CBS that I absolutely love, but it didn’t exist when I was applying for master’s degrees two years ago.

I’d like to apply, but I’m worried that the fact that I’m already enrolled in a master’s program at RUC might work against me and that CBS might prefer not to offer me a place because I’m already studying there.

The CBS program is focused on international development but with a business oriented approach. Right now, I’m studying international development.

Does anyone have experience with this situation or know how CBS tends to view applicants who are already enrolled in another master’s program?

Thanks!

Broke a record? Got hired and laid off 3 days after

Hi there, I'm writing because I'm experiencing a job-wise nightmate. I'm an immigrant and actually studying for a master's while working in hospitality. After searching hard and doing my best, I've received internship and student assistant job offers. It was wild for me, unbelievable, since I came to
Denmark, I just found work in cleaning. After thinking a lot, the internship was really attractive-
I had to turn down that offer and go for the corpo job because it allegedly offered me a stable contract with a “big and serious” company for at least 2 years. I had to pass 3 rounds of interviews and present a project I spent 15 hours crafting. I was so happy. Borrowed money from a friend to buy nice office outfits. I was glowing. Everyone was so happy to have me
In the team. I've been in the office for two and a half days, plus a half day of working online.
On the fourth day, I went to the office before anyone arrived, thinking it was a follow-up before a presentation, and my manager told me they had to let me go because of cutbacks and restructurings. I knew they were firing people, but this completely blindsided me because the hiring process was really long. I can't stop thinking it was my fault. Maybe they saw I wasn't a good fit and preferred to fire Me asap. But how could they know? I haven't even had the chance to prove my value.

In my mind, it doesn't make any sense

HOW CAN U HIRE SOMEONE WITHOUT KNOWING THAT YOU HAVE TO RESTRUCTURE THE TEAM????????

And this sht also doesn't look good for the people working there, because I had a nice
time with my fellow student assistants, and now they have to inform them that the new girl is OUT????

“It's because I had a spelling mistake, it's because I'm new to a cooperative setting, and there are things I'm still learning, it's because I'm New to Outlook and SharePoint????” I'm thinking nonstop. But why did they hire me? They knew I didn't have a corporate background, and I'm not even Danish!

“I'm sorry, this is how corporations work,” my former manager told me. I'm still in shock, feeling like shit for turning down the internship, jobless, and in debt from the shirts I bought for the office.
Please, don't tell me it was my fault. Because I'm feeling really, really low. Tell me if I'm not the only
One. I've been crying until I'm dehydrated. Never saw anything like this, and I'm so scared this will happen to me again… I just can't.

Dear people,

A few days ago, I made some posts explaining my situation: I was deciding between taking a job as a student assistant at a corporation or an unpaid internship at the UN. In the last few days, I received other interview offers from the UN, all for unpaid internships, which means that my CV is not as shitty as I thought.

Unfortunately, I don't have money right now – I'm a Global South girl living in a Nordic country and working as a housekeeper at a hotel – so I had to sign the contract with the corporation.

It kind of kills me inside, because I had to reject an offer that I really, really, really liked. But as I said, I have no money, my family is poor, and I took the corporate job for obvious reasons. Besides, the job market in this field is on fire, and I need to think about my stability for once.

However, my question is: do you think this corporate job could be a stigma in the future if I want to jump into global development? A friend told me it won't look good on my CV. But my friend is English, a white guy doing a PhD in a fancy university in Scandinavia, and he doesn't know what it's like to emigrate as a Latina girl to a Nordic country without a job. He advises me from a place of privilege... but I wanted to know what you think.

Please be honest, guys. Thanks :/
