I know this conversation has been done to death in some circles, but as tech demands have risen, more and more vocal players, some of which live in the 1% with powerful PC's, refuse to interact with anything that is 30fps. There are also now console owners who have become spoiled with this generation's increasing requirement of performance modes. I could go on and on about how I feel sorry for those who restrict themselves in the name of min maxing performance, but what I really want to discuss is the long-term planning that the devs of Rockstar prioritize when creating their massive products. The framerate is the easiest thing to improve as tech evolves. What is not easy to improve is the core of a game, it's various systems that drive the simulation. If a game is designed to work at higher performance, you need to take that into consideration when designing these systems. The problem here is that a simple upgrade in tech, such as a PS6, is not going to change the core of the game like it does a framerate. You will need to massively overhaul a game to upgrade it at its fundamentals, and many devs simply aren't going to put this amount of work into remastering a game.

That is why I was scared that Rockstar was going to fall for this 60fps trap with GTA6. Yes, it would be cool to run it at a higher framerate at launch, but you would be getting a significantly different game as a result. They instead decided to play the long game. We will have a 60fps version of GTA6 with the next generation in 2027 or max 2028, or when the PC version releases. By putting all of their manpower in maximizing the game at 30fps for consoles, we are going to be blessed with a simulation that cannot be rivaled. Yes, you can argue that Rockstar should develop for the most powerful PC's in existence and screw the console performance, but then you would be living in a world that simply cannot exist. No one is going to invest this much money and time to sell to an extremely small demographic. What Rockstar is doing with a clear cut 30fps is future proofing a game that will significantly outlast the console it's being made for. Performance can always be improved, but the core of a game will remain what it is forever, and I think GTA6 is going to be an excellent example of this.

Who else is excited? Can't wait to start playing on Switch 2. I do hope we get more info on console performance soon.

Just a complete self-own for absolutely no reason. The morality of The Artist being your biggest aesthetic concern is such an insane mindset and a unique product of our specific time, and once it goes out of fashion we will look back at it wondering how it ever got to this point. Imagine making your life infinitely harder because you tie yourself up in a pretzel trying to be a Good Person^(tm), yet the logic you use makes absolutely zero sense when held up to any level of scrutiny. Instead of just enjoying life and art for what it is you take it as some battle that can never be won, all in the guise of defeating Evil or something. It's so incredibly sad.

In college and grad school, when I went out with friends, I was always the one, after consuming a few drinks, to shamelessly approach women and start a conversation. Often I would embarrass myself, but occasionally something would click, and as a result I got my friends and I into some weird scenarios. Best case scenario, some of us would get laid.

I thought this would end with college, but as it happens, I can use this mindset for every interaction in my life. See someone cute at the coffee shop or department store or restaurant? Literally just say something. It's going to be weird at times, but more likely than not, if you are saying something with a genuine smile and with a tinge of goofiness, people are extremely open to having their day interrupted to hear something fun about themselves or anything really. I don't believe the mindset online where people don't want to be talked to or approached. I think people desperately want to be talked to.

It's worked for just about everyone. I met a semi-celebrity at a food truck and we became friends after I helped him pay since it was cash only. I met some Europeans last week who were new in town and wanted someone to show them around. I've met people in my own industry who I ended up having a lot in common with.

Anyway, I'm a bit drunk and had a fun night tonight. Go out there and talk to people.

In a year where I will get to play GTA VI, The Duskbloods, and Ocarina of Time Remake, I keep on coming back to Order of the Sinking Star! Maybe it's because we know more about it, but I am dying to play it. I haven't been able to play the demo since I'm on Switch 2, so all I can do is continue to watch interviews, gameplay, etc to satiate the hype. Anyone else right there with me?
