Started adding Level 5 abilities to my Slavic dungeon-management game – here is Bauk’s new Bite

I have started working on Level 5 abilities for the creatures in my solo-developed game, Slavic Legends.

The video shows Bauk’s new Level 5 ability, Bite, from both the top-down view and possession mode.

When Bauk drops below 50% health, he can grab an enemy and repeatedly bite them. Each bite deals damage and restores the same amount of Bauk’s health. The victim is immobilized until the ability ends, but bosses cannot be targeted.

I have also added Baba Yaga’s Scout Eye, shown briefly at the end of the video. Baba Yaga releases a flying eye that patrols the dungeon corridors and detects approaching enemies. When it finds one, it warns the player with a sound and a pulsing marker on the minimap. Enemies can also destroy it.

Dodola has received a Level 5 Chain Heal as well, healing up to four wounded allies for 200, 150, 100 and 50 HP.

More Level 5 abilities are still coming. What abilities would you give to the other creatures from Slavic folklore?

No more starting from scratch — Save & Load is finally here!

Slavic Legends now has a proper Save & Load system with five named save slots, available from both the pause menu and the main menu.

Your dungeon, rooms, creatures, workers, gold, traps, unlocked items, explored map, and current enemy wave are all preserved—so longer sessions no longer need to be completed in one sitting.

The UI is still a work in progress, especially the buttons, but the system itself is working and ready for longer playtests.

The full list of changes is available here: https://ipikas.itch.io/slavic-legends/devlog/1621233/save-load-system-pause-menu-balance-changes-and-more

Thank you for playing! If you enjoy the project, please consider following it on itch.io—it means a lot to me as a solo developer. 💙

The conflict at the heart of Slavic Legends:

The conflict at the heart of Slavic Legends:

On the left are Slavic creatures inspired by folklore, fairy tales, and the beliefs of the ancient Slavs. On the right are human invaders determined to destroy Perun’s statue.

At the moment, you play on the side of the Slavic creatures, protecting them and defending Perun’s statue.

But here’s a question for you: should I keep the game focused on this side of the conflict, or would you also like the option to play as the humans in the future—attacking the statue instead of defending it?

Adding a second playable faction would require major changes to the rooms, objectives, and gameplay, but it could offer a completely different perspective. What do you think?

A new update for the Slavic Legends demo is now available!

A new update for the Slavic Legends demo is now available!

This update adds a new Mage, the Golem Chamber room and a summonable Golem.

The Mage is a ranged caster who can create a damaging magma field, banish an enemy into his chamber and eventually summon the Golem into battle.

The Golem has its own Taunt and Earthquake abilities, returns to the chamber for repairs and must be reconstructed by working Mages if destroyed.

The systems are still in development and will receive more balancing and polish, but everything is now playable in the updated demo.

I would love to hear what you think!

I listened to your feedback – Slavic Legends now has a deeper and clearer dungeon view

Hey Dungeon Keepers!

Last time I shared Slavic Legends, several people mentioned that the dungeon looked too flat, too dark and that it was difficult to understand what was happening.

I took that feedback seriously and reworked the presentation:

  • New 65° camera angle
  • Lower Dirt and Gold blocks
  • More visible space and depth
  • Improved readability behind walls
  • New PBR Fog of War shader
  • Updated floors, walls and dungeon textures
  • Expanded Rest Room from 3×3 to 4×4

The goal was to keep the dark dungeon atmosphere while making the game clearer, more spacious and easier to read.

I hope this version addresses the criticism. I would genuinely like to hear whether the dungeon feels better now — especially from fellow Dungeon Keeper fans.

Slavic Legends is my top-down dungeon management game inspired by Dungeon Keeper and Slavic mythology.

Let's Exchange Demos! I'll review yours if you review mine.

Hi everyone!

I'm getting very close to publishing my Steam page, and before I do, I'd love to gather a few more honest opinions.

Let's exchange demos!

I'll play your game and give you honest feedback on gameplay, UX, pacing, difficulty, visuals, or anything else I notice. In return, I'd really appreciate if you could spend a little time with my demo and tell me what you honestly think. Whether you're an indie developer or just someone who enjoys trying new games, you're more than welcome!

My game is Slavic Legends, a Dungeon Keeper-inspired RTS where you build an underground dungeon, manage creatures from Slavic mythology, gather resources, and defend Perun's altar against invading heroes.

Latest update:

  • New dungeon wall system throughout the map.
  • Added a proper defeat sequence:
    • Perun's statue now has health.
    • When it falls, the statue cracks apart.
    • Perun's spirit rises from the ruins.
    • The game ends with a DEFEATED screen, including Main Menu and Quit options.

I'm looking for honest opinions, not compliments. If something is confusing, frustrating, boring, or simply doesn't feel right, I'd genuinely like to know.

Leave a comment or send me a message if you'd like to exchange demos. I'd be happy to play yours too.

Thanks, and good luck with your projects!

I added a Gaming Room and wagering system to my dungeon management game

Hi everyone!

This week I expanded Slavic Legends, my dungeon building and management game, with a new functional room.

The Gaming Room is the workplace of Sotek, a new ranged creature. Other creatures can visit the room as an optional activity, triggering a cup-shuffling minigame where the player may wager gold.

Higher bets increase the cup speed, so the room offers a possible reward without becoming a guaranteed source of income.

The update also includes:

  • New room animations and visual effects
  • Improved building UI based on player feedback
  • Better Room Tile selling and refunds
  • Additional sounds and activity indicators
  • Navigation and interaction fixes

I’m also working toward modular decorative walls that preserve the existing tile-digging and room-building flow.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback, suggested ideas for future updates or even offered to help with voice acting. It genuinely helped me decide what needed attention and where the game could go next.

The game is still free on itch.io while I prepare its Steam Early Access page.

What do you think about optional interactive rooms inside a base-building game?

I made a Dungeon Keeper-inspired game where you can possess your creatures. Demo is playable now, and I need feedback before opening the Steam page.

Hi, I am a solo developer working on Slavic Legends, a Dungeon Keeper-inspired dungeon management strategy game.

The core playable demo is now available, and before I open a Steam page, I really need honest feedback from players.

The game is built around managing a living dungeon. Your creatures are not just disposable units. They have needs, jobs, payday, XP, levels, abilities, and their own roles in the dungeon.

Current systems in the demo include:

- digging and expanding the dungeon

- workers and gold economy

- room building

- creature needs like hunger, sleep, training, toilet, work, and payday

- enemy waves and combat

- creature leveling and abilities

- possession mode, where you can directly enter a creature and fight/use abilities from its perspective

- cemetery mechanics, where dead enemies can become skeleton minions

-alchemy potions

The game is still in development, but the core loop is already playable. My next planned steps are:

- Steam page

- level cap expansion up to level 10

- more abilities

- 2 new rooms

- 2 new creatures

- mini-bosses and a final victory condition instead of only endless waves

What I need most is honest feedback:

- Is the game understandable from the trailer/page?

- Does the creature management sound interesting?

- Does possession mode feel like a feature worth expanding?

- What would stop you from wishlisting or trying this?

- What looks confusing or weak from the outside?

Playable demo:

Thank you for any feedback. I am not looking only for upvotes, I am trying to understand if the game is ready for the next step toward Steam.

I’ve started working on level-based abilities for my creatures.

Bauk is the first one — at Level 2 he gets a spinning attack, and at Level 3 a jump attack.

Each creature will have its own progression and abilities as I build the system further.

Still work in progress, but combat is starting to feel more varied and interesting.

I’m working on a dungeon management game where creatures take care of themselves — mining, building, fighting and surviving.

You expand your dungeon, manage resources and keep everything running. Creatures also have needs like eating, training and sleeping (and a few less important ones too), so you have to take care of them or things can start going wrong pretty quickly.

If you run out of gold for payday, the whole system can fall apart fast.

Still work in progress, but I’m trying to make it feel alive and a bit chaotic.

If anyone wants to check it out or try the demo, it’s here:
