Today’s carry

Running my Sage 5 salt with cobalt blue ano scales from AWT. The Sage is one of my favorite sub 3 in knives. The AWT scales add so much more to it.

My USA carry for Murica Day!

Happy 4th everyone. Today’s EDC has to be USA made knives. Here’s are two of my favorites.

I don’t like the stock spoon clip. Went with these MXG clips and really like how they turned out. Happy 250th Murica day everyone!

Today’s Carry

Its been a bit since I’ve carried these two. Working some rope, boxes, and household work reminds me why I like these two so much. There isn’t enough days and pockets to carry all these great knives!

Staying with the theme of a set of scales that massively changes the dynamics of a knife. This fluted CF Native 5 has become a top 5 carry for me. It is built like a g10 with the weight of FRN, and the contoured CF is such a dream to handle. And it’s a great looking knife. Admittedly, the N5 was one of my least favorite Spydies (heresy, I know!). This one is one of my favorites now. And even better, I bought it from a guy needing to sell for only $200 shipped! That’s far better than what my opFocus discount is. If you haven’t tried one, I highly recommend it!

How many of you put new scales on a knife and found it completely changed the ergos, looks, and personality of that knife in the very best way? That what these Samurai LNW scales did to my Bodacious. Like a high school glow up, this knife went from Meh to magnificent. Now it’s a consistent piece in my rotation and I’m always excited to use it. What is that knife for you?

Carried the satin Tanto yesterday. Today is the DLC version. This one has smoother action than the satin but I think I like the look of the satin one more. Don’t get me wrong, this one is sexy as hell too. It’s like asking what car would I like to drive, a Ferrari or a Lambo? The answer is always yes! And this one matches my uniform!

Today’s carry

Today’s carry and I’m smitten. This Tanto has been a blast to use and fidget with. The blade is definitely heavier than the normal PM2 blade but it’s offset and balanced well with the Arctic Camo CF scales. This combo of satin and blue really surprised me as I originally wanted it on the DLC blade.

NKD & NSD

Got home from work and Christmas arrived early. I found a guy who was selling the new PM2 Tanto’s he picked up from the Atlanta show for a sub $300/each price I just couldn’t say no to. I also ordered a set of the Lotus Flytanium Arctic Camo CF and they arrived today as well. I had a pair of Jungle Wear Lotus CF scales on my PM2 salt that I harvested. Enter knife surgery. I am so pleased with everything and am on cloud 9 now having 2 of my 3 Spyderco grail knives. I really wanted the Barclay’s and I sadly missed out on them. I logged in 3 minutes after the release and the ones I wanted were gone. But honestly, the Flytanium CF is a close second in my mind. They are that good. I’m actually quite content to keep this build.

I absolutely love the microjimbo. Severely slept on. If you haven’t experienced one, I’d highly recommend it!

I bought this Bodacious specifically to do this LNW Samurai Blue Titanium scale build and I am happy to report it is spectacular.

I bought my SPY27 Bodacious specifically for this build. These LNW Samurai scales in blue titanium are exactly how I envisioned it. Better ergos and the handle is much more grippy than the smooth G10. Can’t wait to run with this one.

I’ve been wanting this version of the N5 for a while. A deal popped up that was too good to pass up and now it’s mine! I’m excited to run with this one in the rotation.

I’ve been wanting the K390 Stretch 2 for ages. I took advantage of the Spyderco MAP sale and couldn’t say no at $135. I love the PM2 so this should be right up my alley

My 15v collection

NKD today was picking up a g10 15v PM2. This accomplishes a top desire of mine since coming into the Spyderco hobby last year. Namely, to own every 15v model. A subset to that is to have every model in G10. Only need a Manix 2 now to complete the task…. Well, until the Yojimbo bros and the N Chief arrive. I’ll be grabbing those three as soon as they drop!

NK(s)D

Moved into my new place and had these bad boys waiting for me. Now all I need is a G10 Manix in 15v (I have the LW) and I’ll have the entire 15v collection. Also removed the 2nd detent on the SNK Smock. Way better now! Looks like I’ll be carrying both tomorrow!

Crucarta and bronze

My second Spydie I purchased. Once I got it, I knew I needed to replace the satin hardware. Went with bronze titanium hardware, a copper ball cage and ceramic ball (loving the patina forming on it), and a Metonboss bronzed clip/screws. I’ve also accelerated the Micarta patina using mineral oil, wicked wax, and just plain use. I’m a PM2 homer, but the Manix makes me question my PM2 loyalty everytime I use one.

Fun build

This was an experiment that ended up better than I expected. I was looking at pics of medieval Europe and noticed how cool the royal colors of purple and gold looked as a pairing. So I decided on this build as an homage to European Royalty. I found a s110v Para3 for a smokin‘ good deal on Bladebinge, picked up some clearance Flytanium aluminum “loop scales” (zoom in and you’ll see the pattern), and some gold hardware/pocket clip. All in, this fun build cost well under $200. And let me tell ya, it’s a conversation starter. People notice it and want to play with it and ask questions about it. It’s a great way to introduce novices and collectors into the hobby. I’m very happy with this one. And an added bonus is it gave me an excuse to own a s110v steel variant.
