Movers are here so my collection is in a pelican case and in a “Do not pack” area in the house. Needed to choose my 2 knives I’ll be carrying for the next 3 weeks while the others stay safely tucked away until I arrive at my new home. I chose these two as lately they’ve been my favorites to use.
After a good solid effort, I was able to secure this Military 2 in 15v that I’ve been searching for. I’ve really been enjoying larger knives lately and wanted to give this a try. I am very happy with it! Makes me now want to pick up a Millie 2 in a more user model like the all black salt or the Crucarta variant. Any other Millie 2 lovers out there?
I love the Denim Micarta Osborne. My only wish was that Benchmade followed through with copper hardware everywhere instead of defaulting to black screws, axis lock, pivot. So enter a company called Better Bolts. They primarily specialize in colored hardware for bicycles and such. But they have a line for the 940… in copper! So $30 later, all of my screws now match. It adds so much more character. Now I need to get the match for the axis lock. I’m okay with a black pivot because I want the strength of steel there where it matters. Hope ya’ll like the look too!
I’m in love with this knife and have carried it daily since getting it a little over a week ago. I also put a black stubby MXG clip on it and now it’s perfect. The colors, ergos, and that amazing Cruwear steel just hits all the notes. When I do switch it out it seems to almost have a soul like a puppy begging me to keep playing with it… It’s become a trusty companion that has made it into my top 5. Thankfully I carry 2 knives at a time so I can still play with others. But dare I say it, I think I could be happy if this was my only knife.
These two beauties make it tough to decide which one I should carry today. I guess I’ll have to settle for both. I have a horizontal leather belt pouch that will get one, the other in the pocket.
I started my Spyderco obsession in late 2024. The 15v line up is what I really find myself gravitating to. Eventually, I’ll talk myself into taking out a second mortgage so I can buy the older editions (Shaman, G10
Manix, PM2, Mil 2) that now are obscenely priced on the secondary market. What’s your favorite model of 15v?
It’s Wharny Wednesday for me today. These are my three Spydies in my collection and are amongst my favorites. That blade shape is so incredibly versatile.
First impressions. The weight or lack thereof is quite noticeable. it isn’t bad at all, but after carrying G10 and CF versions forever, it is very obvious. The tolerances are really tight. It drops shut but opening it is pretty stiff. I’ve cleaned and lubed it and will be flicking it non-stop tonight so I expect it to break in nicely. Wire clip feels flimsy and I feel it shifting a bunch. Clip retention is a 4/10. This will be the first upgrade for sure. Perfectly centered and razor sharp out of the box. And I love the stonewash finish. I prefer it generally to satin as satin is a fingerprint magnet. Overall execution is a solid choice. I’m happy with it for sure. I have a second one coming tomorrow so it will be fun to compare the two.
Spydie fans. I’ve really been enjoying larger sized blades lately and am looking more and more at the Military 2. My question to ya’ll is if you were to buy one, what steel would you get and why? Thanks!
I don’t like the color yellow but I live near the ocean and wanted a corrosion resistant knife. I used the synthetic Rit dyes Sapphire blue and Tropical teal, used Chat GPT to get a preview of colors based on proportions and time, and I love the results. I was looking for a Cavalry blue and I think I nailed it. I added some red highlights for some pizazz.

I was issued this when I served in Iraq in 2004. It was my daily until 2023, survived 4 deployments, and if it could talk, it would tell some amazing stories. There have been many knives I’ve owned afterwards. But this one is special and when I die, it will be buried with me.
I’ve succumbed to all the copious temptation that ya’ll keep pushing with this beautiful Manix 2. It arrived today and I’ve never been so happy to be so weak!😆
Flytanium Lotus scales are soooo good. The Jungle Wear Carbon Fiber on my Salt PM2 is probably my most frequent carry
The PM2 is an evergreen. The PM2 with Lotus Flytanium scales has near perfect ergos.
I’ve wanted this one for a while. Saw it on sale at GOVX at 40% off and I had another 10% coupon. Out the door for $190 and yeah, I couldn’t say no. I am in love with this rendition of the CR series.
