Integrated Alarm Kit (UK)

Integrated Alarm Kit (UK)

Hiya all, been using HA for a whole now, and am in the stages of sorting out an alarm system for my external building.

At the moment I bought the X-Sense kit from amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/X-Sense-Security-Wireless-Supports-AS08/dp/B0DBTRXWQZ

and on the whole, it's good, but, the "siren" feature wouldn't scare off a goldfish. Spent the day yesterday setting up HA integration with the motion sensors, that blasts a signal through all echo units on the everywhere group, but, I'll more than likely send this kit back - specifically due to the alarm feature.

So now I'm on the hunt again and am currently researching these kits:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/XUK-Security-Systems-Touchscreen-Wireless/dp/B0G4W6KS1G
https://www.amazon.co.uk/PGST-Wireless-Security-Assistance-Apartment/dp/B0FGHHQTMT

My question, for those of us in the UK, what alarm did you end up going for, for decent HA integration? The PGST looks like it's tuya compatible, so at the moment that seems a favourite

Looking through previous posts, I can see insurance mentioned, this won't affect me

Many thanks for help guys

San Martin Watches

Hi everyone, as title, I'm currently looking at some brands, I see Watchdives, San Martin, Specht & Sohne and so on, I wondered what makes the SM watches special as I can see the prices are higher, is it just better quality or am I missing something else?

Many thanks all!

Top surface and wall resonance (?)

Printer: Elegoo Centauri Carbon (core xy type)
Filament: Jayo matte black
nozzle: 0.4mm hardened steel
Calibrations: Temperature, PA, Flow
slicer: orca nightyly dev / linux

Top surface: 8 layers, rectiliner finish, 0.42 width, 100mm/s speed, 500mm/s accel

Walls, 150mm/s, 2500 accel, 0.42 width.

I'm being a twonk and can't think how to fix my top, am I printing too fast?

I assume the wall resonance is due to printing fast too? I printed a vfa tower and all speeds looked the same

Struggling to setup guest network (Deco X20)

Hi everyone,

Hope someone can help, I'm pretty sure I'm doing something stupid (ex IT here)

I have two X20's running firmware 1.3.0 Build 20250722 Rel. 50004

My network is very simple, ISP router (dns/dhcp server) -> X20 (Access point, smart dhcp & fast roaming disabled)

My main wifi and IoT wifi working great, I'm trying to configure the guest network section, it's on 2.4ghz, given it a name and a password, allow local access, yet when I connect, I'm told it's a wrong password.

I assume the guest network not grabbing dns/dhcp from the router, or is it something more basic to fix?

Slicing Gridfinity Cases (schuylabs)

Hiya all

After taking a sledgehammer to my old printer, I now own a fabby elegoo centauri carbon with a much larger baseplate (256x256)

I'm now ready to print our best mate's gridfinity boxes (/u/Schuylabs):

https://makerworld.com/en/@schuylab

I'm eyeing up the 7x6 kit and need to slice, I wondered, has anyone else done this, what connectors did you use, and how did you find connecting the pieces again? I'm aware it won't be as strong, but for my uses it'll be fine

Considering buying a Centauri Carbon

Hiya all

I've had a sovol sv06 ace bed slinger for about a year now, and had nothing but problems with it (broken motors, broken fans, twisted lead screws, extruder damaged, screen flickers) about 2 of 5 prints are successful.

I've wasted a significant amount of time dealing with this load of c... kit.

so I started looking into the light and am looking at the Centauri Carbon, on amazon its currently ~£250, and on elegoo ~£240. (Although amazon gives me free 6 month payments)

I wondered, is there much setup with the core xy types, and are there any quirks? I'd like to use ocraslicer if possible too?

I want it for gridfinity projects, and to please the mrs with plant pots

On the whole, I use pla, but do have wood and marble filaments, so easily changing the nozzle from x (0.2/0.4) to a 0.6mm would make my life easier too

Many thanks for your insights fellow printers

[EDIT]
Good news everyone!

[EDIT 2]
someone is downvoting all my comments - what's wrong with you? Don't you enjoy helping out a fellow printer?!

Morning all

Specs:

  • Sovol SV06 ACE (tightened with engineers square, calibrated belts)
  • TriangleLabs NCB 0.4mm Nozzle
  • Oldham couplers installed

Calibrations:

  • Temperature
  • Flow ratio (using large square, singe walled with calipers)
  • Pressure advance
  • Retraction

Slicer:

  • Ocra Slicer (Nightly build) 2.4.0-dev Linux

Filaments:

Jayo PLA matte
Greetech PLA silk

Photos:

  • Two photos of prints - Jayo matte, and Greetech silk
  • Screenshots of Ocraslicer config and filament

Context:

I'm trying to get rid of my layer lines (0.2mm) and tried down to 0.08mm, I can't seem to tweak it any further, at the moment I'm using fuzzy, but the speeds on that are a little tough. Have I missed off something obvious, or am I at the edge of this type of slinger? Had the printer for just under a year now.

Any help appreciated!

Morning all, I'm looking to buy some plain T shirts from ali, and wondered whose who have bought, how did you find the quality and fitting? Searching on here, I can see simwood being mentioned a few times about a year ago, are there any others I should look at?
