Malificent is a gentle, sensitive girl who just needs someone willing to give her a chance.
When she first arrived at the shelter, she was understandably frightened after being found as a stray. The chaos of the shelter has left her unsure of new situations, but once she’s approached calmly, a completely different dog begins to emerge. She happily accepts treats with the gentlest manners, walks nicely on leash, enjoys sniffing around outside, and slowly seeks out affection from the people she learns to trust.
Volunteers describe Malificent as shy but incredibly sweet. After taking a little time to settle, she willingly comes over for pets and clearly enjoys quiet companionship. She isn’t looking for constant excitement—she simply wants to feel safe.
The shelter environment has been especially difficult for Malificent, and her fear has carried over into playgroup where she has become defensive when approached by unfamiliar dogs. She would benefit tremendously from leaving the stressful shelter environment and decompressing in a patient home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace.
Behind her timid exterior is a loving dog who deserves the opportunity to show the family she’s waiting for just how wonderful she can be.
