A rare feature I found on a 2001 Corolla: ACC mode (radio/lights) also turns on AC!
I wish I knew more specific trim details - but this is a feature my mom's car has. She bought it in 2001, directly from the dealership. When turning the key towards ACC mode, without turning the engine on, this usually powers the radio and lights and things like that... But on my mom's car, it also allows you to use the AC, without having the engine running.
I'm not sure how it works, but it was a lifesaver when she would park and wait to pick me up at school, and it was a lifesaver when my sister and I started driving it to college as well. We lived in a very hot climate so the AC was definitely running, it wasn't just a fan.
Every google search I've made says that this SHOULDN'T be possible, but it is. Does anyone know why? Every car I've driven after hers, I wish had that feature lol.
edit: turns out it was running the blower motor and using the battery, which can drain it so it shouldn't be operated for long. Wish it was a more intentional feature lol 😅
