Intentional ≠ fairytale perfection

I see a lot of people trying to "escape" their current life with an intentional community. I want to address that *you can't create a society in a vacuum.* People are multidimensional and complex. Any person joining your community is going to have opinions, history, and differing perspectives sometimes. Sure, you can have a focus on certain qualities, but you can't control human beings as if they're livestock or something. You *have* to have diplomacy, and you *have* to manage conflict sometimes. These are some of the foundational building blocks of leadership. You do not deserve to be in a position of power otherwise.

Oregon, US

Bigger than a quarter. I usually see common house spiders here, but they're brown.

Tooth extraction

Baby girl walked up to me last night and spit out a big chunk of tooth. Pulp is exposed. I think she was playing bitey-face with her brother. They're gonna take the whole tooth out. Wish her luck!

"One for me, one for the basket. One for me, one for the basket..." 🫐

Overheard from a little kid at a u-pick blueberry patch. Reminded me of my own experiences as a kid, bringing home more berries in my tummy than in the basket. 🫐
