For more context, Montabi is a monster taming roguelike deckbuilder. This is our first game, so we’re really thankful and learning a lot from all your feedback.

Previously, we tried to improve our capsule art by adding cards and grids for genre clarity and readability (A). But a lot of people said the old art (B) feels more alive and captures the vibe better. So we’re back exploring the previous art, now with more cards and zoom for clarity. And most importantly, trying to keep the vibes alive!

For context, Montabi is a roguelike deckbuilder where you tame monsters and battle on tactical grid. You can see the gameplay on the next slide.

After using the same capsule for a year, we decided to change it for a couple of reasons:

  • Genre clarity: We loved showing a lot of monsters before, but deckbuilding and tactical grid are huge parts of the game. We added cards and grids so players can understand the gameplay better.
  • Readability: The previous one is very detailed, but it’s not really clear in smaller sizes. We tried to focus on less characters, bigger title, and simpler background to give contrast to the focal point.

We tried to do this before Deckbuilders Fest, do you think we made a good decision? What do you think about the new capsule?

Hi everyone! We're making Montabi, a roguelike deckbuilder where you tame monsters and battle on tactical grid (gameplay on the next slide). We're inspired by Slay the Spire, Pokemon, and MegaMan Battle Network.
