In an SBS, Oda was asked which male Straw Hat would he recommend as a boyfriend. His answer surprised many people

Q: Which male character would you recommend as boyfriend?

Oda: I’d have to say Usopp! He’s considerate of the people around him, and he’s kinder than anyone.

Sanji has a lot of female fans, but he would definitely cheat on you. And I’m the author, so you can trust me!

As for Luffy… hmm, I don’t know. You’d probably have to be extremely patient to date him. He’s restless and can’t stay in one place, so even if a girl told him, ‘I want to see you,’ I don’t think he’d really understand how she feels.

What do you think about the gag of Nami hitting Luffy? Do you think it's funny or do you consider it outdated humour?

I love this gag because the contrast between this and Nami relying on Luffy during emotional moments and caring about him is what makes their bond so special to me.

It seems to be getting a lot of hate by newer fans though.

Apart from Luffy, who do you think Nami has the closest bond with: Usopp or Robin?

Most people seem to agree that Nami has the closest bond with Luffy but between Robin and Usopp it's debatable who is closer to Nami. What do you think?

Rewatching Thriller Bark and do you think Oda is trying to ship tease Sanji and Nami with moments like these?

In Cake Island we got the reverse of this with Nami saving Sanji from his wedding.

Although they most probably won't be together because of Oda's no shipping rule.

How would you feel if the ending of One Piece is simply the Straw Hats raising the sails and going on another adventure? Or would you prefer them to disband and each go their separate ways.

I really like him. He is goofy and dumb most of the times but acts intelligent at some times and even shows some emotional intelligence at times. His character is really nuanced. Such a protagonist is perfect for a series whose core theme is freedom.
