Gonna try to make this brief since i have a lot to say. I hate this piece of merch, as well as in general the way in which the main cast acted in the last few episodes, because it’s part of one of the biggest issues with this show: Jax never faces consequences for his actions, and is never held accountable. I’m not gonna recap here everything he’s done, but we all know he was a shitty asshole, and while his family life certainly explains why he acted the way he did, it does not excuse it given the fact that he was actually hurting people and generally being a nuisance. At the end of the day he still chose to act that way and to never change, nor even put in the slightest effort in that direction. I have no problem whatsoever with having a character be an asshole, however it’s honestly weird and completely inaccurate how the others responded to his behaviour: they put up with it for supposedly years (idk the exact timeline), repeatedly showed they didn’t like his behaviour, and all of a sudden Pomni takes his defence in ep8 by saying "we’ve all done bad things" and suddenly everyone is just ok with him? With everything he’s done (not even mentioning the fact that his actions are far worse than anything anyone else did, and Pomni’s statement is just weird considering the fact that the worst thing Ragatha did is like. Be slightly condescending because she was trying to cheer Pomni up. And yell once at Jax and Pomni. And what did Zooble ever do that could be considered as bad?? Or Kinger (excluding the fact he created Caine but he obviously could never have predicted what would happen afterwards))?

To see basically every character cry because of his abstraction in episode 9 and to see this piece of merch just feels like the most stupid shit ever. Jax is an asshole to everyone but suddenly when he "dies" everyone is super sad about it and they make merch saying "we still have each other". As someone who has suffered from abuse before, if my abuser suddenly died, the last thing i would be doing is crying, and i certainly wouldn’t be thinking, if i was trapped with them in the circus "well, they’re a human and all so i should excuse their behaviour, because, come on, who hasn’t done bad things before?" No, the fact they are one of the only other people in the circus does not absolve them of their culpability. And while i can easily believe some people would be sad at his passing, and would maybe cry (essentially just Pomni), none of the other characters would, and they’re frankly acting ooc here.

Like, Gangle is confused that she "can’t cry for him"?? Why? He was a jerk to her from the second she arrived. Even if she, specifically, is the type of person who, considering the fact they still feel some love for their abuser, would be sad at their passing, and guilty if they didn’t cry, it doesn’t make sense that everyone is acting in this way. Why is everyone getting emotional over him abstracting/feeling guilty if they can’t cry. The excuse of "they’re crying because they’re human" works for some characters but not all, and overall the fact everyone excuses him and he never faces any consequences (by consequence here i am specifically referring to one imposed by the victims onto him, and therefore excluding his abstraction) sends a distasteful message, almost one of "well it’s ok if he made everyone’s lives suck because ☝️ he’s one of the only humans trapped in here with you". It’s the same type of vibe as "yes your parent/sibling/other family member is horrible to you and abused you, but they’re your family, and family goes above all, so you need to forgive them". The simple fact that he is one of the only humans in the circus should not in any way excuse his behaviour, and I found the way the characters acted to not be representative of how actual sufferers of abuse act (or at least, only representative of a minority, and therefore should not be how all of the characters act, especially not someone like Zooble), and hard to watch. Even Jax, in the end, admits he’s just a huge asshole. Why doesn’t anyone have a backbone in this show.
