Our horrible property management company has driven me so nuts that I actually ran for a position on the board. I knew I would win because my platform stressed communication with the board (the PM has steadfastly refused to let me speak with the board or attend meetings) and creating an owners' forum.
I know I'm going to regret running. Wish me luck, everyone!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who read and commented on my post yesterday. I wanted to respond and thank each person individually, but I am just SO exhausted. I haven't even had the energy to even *read* all of y'all's comments.
Yesterday I called my HALF-sister who abused me my whole life and had a long, long conversation that was very informative AND proved that my mother *still* lied to me when the "truth" came out. Then more communication with my mom after that, which continued the heartache. Too much to go into here, but just wanted to explain my exhaustion and apologize to everyone who commented and didn't get the courtesy of a reply back or a thank you. Please, please know that your comments are greatly appreciated, even if I don't thank you personally, and please accept my apologies for my lapse. I just am so gutted, I can't.
Sending y'all love and light. Namaste. 🙏🏼♥️🫂
It's Monday, so here is my weekend roundup:
At 62 years of age, I found out on Saturday that my dad was not my dad.
I guess that explains why my "family" treated me so poorly my whole freaking life.
I'm still catching my breath and processing.
Thanks for listening. Y'all are such a wonderful community. Sending you all love and light for a great week ahead.
Editing to add: I realized this morning that I was literally the redheaded stepchild, ha, ha.
Hello community!
Gosh, I love y'all! You're all so engaged and we have such lively conversations here!
Okay, for those of us just now joining, I made a post on 7/4, I believe, about dating a guy who talked on and on but never asked about me and when I did speak, he interrupted me, and whether my verbiage in expressing disinterest in seeing him again would be condescending. I'm here to share the exciting conclusion.
But first, a tad bit of backstory:
We met via a dating app and honestly, I was surprised, to say the least, that every time I messaged him, he responded instantly whether he was at work or at home, whether it was morning or evening, weekday or weekend. He was ON IT!
Back to the fateful July 3 date. Somehow the topic of the fact that I have started casually dog sitting came up. I earn a few extra dollars from it but that's not really the point. I do it because I really love dogs. I volunteer at shelters and I foster dogs, etc. He mentioned that a friend of his needs a dog sitter and I told him that I had just dog sat for a lovely dog the week prior and that I had such a touching text from the dog's owner about what a great dog sitter I was and how I gave such loving care to their dog. It really touched my heart and brought a tear to my eye, to tell the truth, and I told him so. I showed him the text on my phone. He glanced at it so quickly that I knew he didn't even bother to read it, and said, "Mmm" before blathering on about his favorite bands.
After listening to him pontificating about his CD and sword collections, favorite bands, blah blah, blah and interrupting me repeatedly throughout the evening, I was done.
So I messaged him after I made my post here and here is the response I got from the heretofore johnny-on-the-spot, quick-response texter.
And I haven't heard from him since. So much for his lively text conversations and quick responses.
😂😂😂
Posted earlier this week about two separate guys not asking anything about me, but one of them bending my ear about his sword collection.
Well, what the heck, okay, I went on a second date with the sword guy. Maybe he just talked too much out of nerves or whatever. Basically a good guy, a gentleman, so give it another shot.
Three-hour date at a community event, and the same thing. Him, him, him; no interest in anything I had to say. Interrupted me every time I spoke, no questions about myself.
No worries; again, I think he's a good guy, but I'm not interested in a one-way "conversation," so I want to call it off. Might consider being friends only.
Usually I just say that we're not a fit and I wish them well, but I'm now thinking, "I don't think I'm the gal for you" is a better fit because if I WAS the gal for him, certainly he would be interested in me enough to ask about me, not interrupt me, and listen to what I have to say.
Question: Is saying, "I don't think I'm the gal for you," condescending?
Not an earth shattering question, and I've been around the block so I'm not exactly stymied by this situation. Just interested in your replies.
Happy fourth, everyone. Please be sure to snuggle your pets tonight if they need support during the mayhem. ❤️🤍💙
Probably a longshot, but here we go:
I went to a medspa seeking to reduce the appearance of lines around my mouth (like smokers' lines, even though I don't smoke). I wanted a filler but the owner, an anesthesiologist at a local hospital, steered me away from fillers, suggesting an invasive procedure that I didn't feel comfortable with due to possible migration. We settled upon a package of three microneedling sessions to build up the collagen in that area.
She had a nurse or esthetician do two of the sessions, and when I returned for the third session, I commented that I saw no improvement and that her esthetician had told me that microneedling is not indicated for a perioral lines. So, essentially, I paid $3,500 for nothing.
Stupidly, I returned to this fraudster, again requesting fillers for the perioral lines and again she steered me away from fillers, instead into a $3,500 laser package of three sessions.
Again, I was seeing no results and this time two nurses in her spa said that laser treatments are not indicated for perioral lines.
At this point, I decided to not continue with the package but instead to get the filler which I'm very satisfied with.
My issue is that I paid almost $7,000 for treatments that were not indicated, while my concern was resolved with only a $600 procedure after she TWICE steered me to the more expensive, ineffective treatments.
She is refusing refunds for the ineffective treatments.
What is my recourse, and where can I report her for twice misguiding me in my treatment options to the tune of over $5000?
Thank you.

Hello all,
Due to an improperly installed shower pan, the pan developed a sizeable crack which a handyman has repaired via spray foam to support the underside, and a sealant topside. I am aware that this is not the ideal fix but it is where we are today. Please do not tell me to replace the pan, as that is not in the budget at the moment.
My question is, the topside sealant has chipped and I want to re-seal it, but was overwhelmed with choices at Home Depot. Would you please advise as to what I can do to re-seal at the chip until I can afford to replace the pan?
Comments telling me to replace the pan will not be helpful currently, as it simply is unaffordable right now.
Thank you!
Honestly, the guys out there...

One guy claims to be amazing at his attention to detail (turns out he's on this sub, so if he sees this, I don't care) yet forgets to call me.

Second guy wants to meet half way...but half way is 50 miles for me, and twenty for him (and it gets worse)

Third guy apparently loves texting but never quite gets around to meeting.

And that's just in the last two weeks. And it doesn't even touch upon the profiles and pics that need work.

Everyone claims to want to find somebody but these guys are blind to how they're messing up.

I'm just about ready to put out a shingle and start coaching.

Okay, share your stories. We all could use a giggle. Go!

Heya,
If anyone has recommendations for a stable locally that gives English horseback riding lessons to adults, I would appreciate it. I've started lessons again, but my instructor - whom I really like - is soooo unreliable, I'm not making any progress. Again, I'm sitting here cooling my heels and driving a half hour for this. It's getting old.

Hello.
I have health insurance but it doesn't cover eye exams. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive optometrist for someone doing self pay? Two years ago I went to My Eye Doctor on Rt. 1 (Cosner's Corner area) and it turned out that my insurance didn't cover it, and I was floored at the price I wound up paying.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Hello.
Hoping I can get some advice here!
When I lived in California, I had three homes that I included in my revocable trust. Since then, I have moved to Virginia and acquired two additional properties, but at the closings, the people who were running things didn't want to deed the properties or title the properties or whatever in the name of the trust, but put them in my name instead. I suspect they were just being lazy at the time and I was naïve and just went along with them.
Now I have regrets because I want to ensure that these properties are covered by my trust so they don't have to go through probate. How can I change these deeds or titles or whatever they're called, into the name of the trust rather than myself, a single person with no spouse, children, or other dependents?
The beneficiary of my entire estate/trust is a charity and I want to ensure that none of my birth family members can lay claim to these two additional properties (they are all financially secure and do not need the money).
If it matters, the three California properties that are already in the trust have mortgages on them that will be paid off in less than 10 years. One property in Virginia should be paid off in about 20 years, and the other one I own outright after a 1031 exchange from a property that I used to own in illinois.
Sorry if I gave too many facts. I just want to make sure that I didn't leave anything out.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me as to how I can ensure that these properties go straight to the charities without having to go through probate and without paying another $2,000 to have a new trust drawn up.
