Great colours, and great bag!
Hey guys,
I’ve gone all in with TickTick today. Quick question….. I can see those coloured dots on the Mac App (next to lists), but I can’t see them on iPhone or iPad.
Is that normal?
I have the relevant setting turned on!
I know this topic has been covered, but I could never truly get a definitive answer when I was looking recently...... Although I appreciate everyone will be different.
I'm 6ft 4 and fluctuating weight (currently 108KG).
I just wanted to say, that if you want to get the R1 Air for more casual use (less technical mid layer), then 1 size up is the way to go unless you like it very form fitting.
I tried the XL last year when I was down at 100KG and it was VERY tight - Wearable as a mid layer just about, but absolutely not OK for casual use.
I bought the XXL yesterday and it's PERFECT as a casual, warm, breathable fleece jacket - Ideal for those Spring through to Autumn/Fall days.
Note - I'm an XL in all other Patagonia!
Hopefully someone finds this useful down the line :)
I'll do my best not to wax lyrical about these, but bear with me.
A little context - I have feet on the squarer side - Not super wide, but if I'm going to have an issue, it's always around the big toe on my right foot.
Less of an issue with general trainers/sneakers (Nike for example, whilst narrow, don't cause a major issue because the material is so soft).
Leather boots - More of an issue. You get the picture.
I've tried Altra before (in the shops a few years ago), but the lack of selection wasn't ideal, and I've not tried them since.
I *finally* took a leap and ordered the Timp 6's last week - They've been great. Excellent comfort, excellent grip, and I'm slowly getting used to the zero drop.
I've taken them on about 25KM of walks, and I'm still getting heel/achilles aches after about 4KM. It's slow progress.
But I've just taken delivery of the Experience Wild 3+'s and I think it may be the perfect shoe.....
The 4mm drop feels like the best of both worlds (comfort and squish of a bigger drop shoe, with the stability of the zero drop shoes).
Took them straight out on a 6KM walk (note, I'm a walker, not a runner), and they didn't miss a beat.
I also bought the new Pegasus Trail ACG from Nike, and whilst it FEELS more squishy and soft, it also feels very very unstable in comparison.
I'll be taking the Wild's across Europe this summer, so they should get a good test!
I think I'm a full Altra convert.....
Hey guys,
I’m not going to go into crazy detail of this - To all intents and purposes, it’s the same Farpoint 40 (love it or hate it), with the same updates that the 2025/2026 model has.
However, I think there are some points worth noting!
G Hooks vs Clips
The compression straps on the front are metal G-hooks (very lightweight, feels like titanium) compared with your regular buckles on the standard Farpoint.
Personally, I love the aesthetic and for this purpose, I prefer them.
They also have smaller G-hooks for the load lifters (similar to the standard Farpoint) - However, there isn’t the extra “teeth” that the plastic G-hook has - It’s just a small, smooth metal G-hook. I don’t see it causing an issue, and if anything, it’ll be easier to engage and disengage.
Shoe Compartment
This was a big one for me. I actually quite like the separate compartment at times…. But sometimes, it just gets in the way.
I was worried the same thing would happen here, but Osprey have attached the inside of the shoe compartment with a little toggle (just like they do with the laptop compartment) - So if you don’t want to use that compartment, you can just untoggle it and it pretty much disappears!
I was very happy to see this - Adds much more versatility to it.
Strap Keepers
Excellent strap management on all straps APART from the sternum strap - I have no idea why they didn’t add one here, as it’s arguably the place that needs it the most. Very strange design choice from Osprey (I’ll be adding my own).
Overall
I know there are still some great bargains to be had on the 2022 model (whilst stocks last), and the “premium” the Danner model demands over the standard 2025/2026 model is arguably not worth it for most people.
For me - It’s a bag that should last a lifetime (literally in Ospreys case), and I *really* liked the colour scheme.
I’m very happy I bought it - Looking forward to taking it on many trips in the summer!
PS - People often criticise the bottle holders, and with good reason.
For anyone reading, you CANT fit a 36oz Yeti in. But you CAN fit a 26oz Yeti or a 32oz HydroFlask Trail edition - That should give you an idea of size.
It’s better to add the bottle first, before you start packing if you can (if you load up the bag, you’ll probably struggle to get the bigger bottles in the holder!
