what is a good air quality monitor for UK?

I live on a busy dual carriageway in a flat. I have secondary glazing in both bedrooms and living room and whilst I notice dust I don’t really notice black soot as such as I think the secondary glazing is creating a seal when completely shut but please correct me on this. The bathroom and kitchen don’t have secondary glazing and there is more black dust

What’s the best air quality monitor to buy or will a simple one from Amazon suffice?

Secondly that’s the most cost effective air purifier I can buy that tackles traffic and road pollution for the UK?

Thanks

should I get fitted wardrobes in my flat (does it add value)?

Hi all,

I’m facing a dilemma, I brought a 2 bed flat in London. I have previously posted that I brought it on a main road and regret it immensely since then. I got my flat completely renovated.

I have been living without wardrobes as I always thought I’d get fitted wardrobes and now I’m finally in a position to get them. But it’s got me thinking that this flat isn’t my forever home and I/my parents have already poured money into this hole and I don’t want to make it worse so I got to thinking just get ikea wardrobes to save money and now I don’t know what to do.

I have put together a pro/con list as well as price comparison. My main question is do fitted wardrobes increase the value of my flat or will it make it more desirable to a future buyer?

Pro of fitted wardrobes:

  1. Custom - would be custom to fit my space
  2. I have tall ceiling so would be floor to ceiling - again aesthetically pleasing
  3. Size - depth of the wardrobes is an issue so going custom means I can get exactly what I need
  4. design - initially thinking cashmere, with gold profile and ribbed sliding glass (which ikea doesn’t do)

Cons:

  1. Expensive than IKEA pax
  2. IKEA isn’t completely custom, limited sliding door range, depth of wardrobes I cannot change and will be ~70cm and it won’t be floor to ceiling

Cost:

For both bedrooms I have been quoted £3.5k fitted
For IKEA: both wardrobes
Wardrobes - £1.2k
Delivery - £75
Labour - £ 250
So roughly £1.5k

2k saving roughly - not groundbreaking but still 2k?

Can anyone please shed some light/advice on my dilemma?

Considering this style wardrobe, cashmere with ribbed glass and gold accents in my master bedroom however I do not know what size to get as it’s already a tight space, originally I was considering a 2m wardrobe however it won’t line up with the bed. If I get any bigger then it eats into the entrance way, any advice?

Also has anyone got any tips for wardrobe design internally? It will be two shelves at the top, hanging rail and then drawers underneath, it will be roughly 1m each for this bedroom equally 2m internal space
Is this design ok? Anything else I should consider?

Hi there,

I’m switching my dummy account to Lloyds however I just received this text

Hi. We've got your request to switch to LLOYDS BANK PLC, but you still have other products or non-current accounts open with us. Please take action today or your switch will be rejected. You need to open another current account if you want to keep using your other products or non-current accounts. To leave entirely, you must close all other products and accounts first.

Has anyone else received this text and if so what did you do?

Thanks,

Hi all,

Looking for general investment and saving advice so I can hit FIRE quicker!

I am 27F, on 95K base and 50% bonus and carry. I am early on in career and live in London.
Current assets (approx):

~120k S&S ISA

~100k pension

~550k 2 bed flat in London - that I live in by myself

In terms of outgoings: mortgage is £1500, service charge is £400, bills are £300 = £2.2k living expenses

Other outgoings is approx £700 but varies on months in terms of social activities holidays etc but generally live quite frugally so in total monthly outgoings are ~3k

A few things I would really love some insight on is:

  1. How can I hit FIRE? Looking back I wish I hadn't purchased a property but it is too late for that now so can only make do with the situation

  2. How best to manage bonus payment?

  3. How to be the most tax efficient

I am keen to make thoughtful decisions from here and avoid mistakes or blind spots. I wish I consulted here before going ahead with my flat purchase hence why I making a post now!

Please can people suggest their holy grail volume mousse or spray they use with their Dyson and what they swear by?

I have seen so many conflicting products that I can’t decide and I would like to pick top 3 and try them!

Straight after I take my pin curls out etc it’s perfectly bouncy and voluminous, but as soon as I go outside and meet my friends ~25-30 mins later my hair has fallen flat but the curls stay. Any recommendation on how to keep the volume in my hair?
