Controller first distro recommendations

I run intel processor with an rtx gpu.
Ideally i want controller first setup similar to big picture on steam. My main usecase is tv gaming and movies.

I tried pop os but i had reliability issues where every time i would sit down to play i would need to spend 10-20 mins troubleshooting something. And at the end of the day i want to grab a controller and sit down.

I work with linux servers so i am ok spending a day or two for setup but after that maybe quarterly maintenance is all im ready to commit for.

Tldr: suggest the least frictionless controller first setup for gaming and movies.

Someone important at Cowboys

A bit of a rage post. Our mayor rides cTrain to work but someone very important decided its not for them and had police officers on bikes in +30 heat and yellow air quality riding along and blocking roads so they could drive their new Audi trough without trough traffic with 2car police escort. WTF??

First overnight backpacking trip

Hello everyone,
Im about to go on my first backpacking trip in Alberta. Ive done quite a few nights in UK and Scotland before but rules here are a bit daunting to say the least. I am planning to do a test 1nighter near The Wedge i bought Kananaskis pass and planning to setup at around 7-8 pm and be gone by 10am next morning. Is there anything i should know before my trip?

How to sample

Good day, i have bought some Stevie Wonder and Issac Hayes records and trying out sampling.

  1. i found myself just listening and enjoying the records as a whole and i couldn’t find anything that caught my ear in particular. What records/songs would you say would be easier to sample. Or generally how would you see a beginner developing a deeper way of listening to a record. Ive watched a bunch of videos of some OGs and they always seem to pinpoint exactly the part they like. Thats my goal so far.

  2. how do you approach your production with samples? Looking at Ye i see he is taking a sample and adds some instruments to beef it up. I have tried to pull out some low end from my vinyls and it sounds quite muddy and i wasnt able to make much of it. I understand that every project is different but for me its a whole new world so i need some sort of baseline to keep learning from.

QLink function

Mpc knows when you are touching a qlink. How about when you are holding a qlink button and touching a qlink you will be moved to that qlink page. For example holding a button and 1st qlink opens a first page. Because especially with rubber buttons moving from 2nd to first page takes more effort then it should and i dont have the piano hands but i can comfortably reach to the button and 4th qlink

Lets hope someone from dev team sees it

Sp404 or Sample?

For those who have tried both. I have mpc live3 for serious work and im planning to get something more portable like 404 or Sample as a fun machine. For me they are almost identical given that sample will probably receive a bunch of updates in the future, but 404 currently wins in my head for live fx and a big community. What are your thoughts?

Upd: going with the sp404mk2 the reason being is that mpc sample philosophy will most likely be in line with the bigger machines so it will be similar experience but in a portable format and sp will offer new features and the Almighty FX to my setup. Thanks all for participating

Mixing on mpc

Im going trough the mixing part of the mpc bible3 and it has been a blast so far. The question i have is the mixing tweaks author applies are so subtle i dont see a difference (yes the plugin is turned on) i have 80ohm dt770 pro. When using built it speakers i dont hear anything as well. Is it some sort of skill i can improve on? Could someone explain? I will attach a photo of eq

Why when inserting effects into a pad/track i see all the plugins and when i go to press on the paid ones i get asked to pay. Obviously if someone sees the PRO version they would click on it. Im fairly fresh to mpc and it seems like poverty buttons on cars. Ive spend close to cad2,5k and still see the Please Buy buttons come on. At lease put them in activations so if i want extra stuff i can go in and see them.

And also why flex beat is included in mpc sample which is a third of a price and not in Live 3.
