Halloween crab

we were out with friends earlier tonight who were telling us about the Halloween crabs on their property. I had never seen one, so I asked them to send me a picture when we got back. They did, and it was very cool looking. Not 15 minutes later we heard a scraping at our patio door, and look who came knocking…and got very close to getting in 😯

Cleveland The Big Egg

If you've been there you know, if you never were, you missed something!

(And this menu was about 2 feet long)

The Big Egg

Found this old menu while clearing out some stuff. The restaurant was giving them away before they closed. At least that's how I like to remember it.

"Bloody Glove Lilies"

There used to be an old guy down the road that had a small barn and field and he'd sell lilies for something like $6./plant. When we moved to this house almost 20 years ago, I planted these, and they have never failed to bloom and spread.

I found a 'before' picture

I recently shared a picture of a ring I got from my grandmother's old jewelry box, but only after a jeweler had identified it for me as something worthy of saving. My previous headline was "Wish I had a 'before' picture" and now I have found one. It's not a good picture, but it does give a good indication of the color the metal was, and why I was confused about whether it was even gold. It still has the previous broken garnet/glass in it.

The Carl B. Stokes United States Courthouse I did in fused glass

It's such a cool building, named after an equally cool man. He was a judge when I practiced law, and I learned a lot from him.

I wish I had the before pics

I inherited a small box of mostly costume jewelry from my grandmother. She was long gone by the time I got the box with this ring in it. I had gone to the jewelers to sell some of my old broken gold chains and a few old pieces, and I took in this ring, but it looked nothing like this at the time. I wish I had a before pic. I wasn't even sure it was gold because the color of the metal looked like old tarnished copper, and the stone was a broken piece of garnet colored glass.

The jeweler looked at it and smiled at me and said, "you don't want to get rid of this". He told me it was old European gold which gave it a different patina, but that I'd be pleased with the results. He said that it was a common design and about 80% had the red stone like mine, and the rest had a deep blue stone, so I opted for the blue stone for replacement. To top it off, he made me a great deal on the replacement stone!

When I picked it up, I was speechless. I just kept saying, "wow, ..oh..Wow!".

The guy at the counter shopping next to me chimed in with "that's the reaction I'm looking for" LOL

Any other information would be appreciated!
