First, thank you everyone for the great feedback, like I said my interest is fairly new so it's been helpful learning that just because the navitimer looks like a chronograph it's firmly a pilot's watch and the santos was technically the first watch "for" a pilot but not the first "pilot's watch". Lots of great nuance this time around and hopefully closer to more accurately grouping modern and historical watches accurately. Secondly, a couple comments from last time accused me of using AI, this was fully made in Adobe Illustrator (which probably isn't the best software for this application) so no... there's no AI here. I hand searched the best pictures I could find for each image. As always, open to feedback and thanks for expanding my watch world view.

I basically wanted to know what the first historical iteration of a model is, what the most “famous” iteration is, what common variants are, and if there’s a good budget option. I made this myself based on some research so would love to hear discussion and feedback about it. Getting into watches I am most surprised by how difficult it has been to obtain some of them. I had only owned a vintage and modern Hublot because I thought they looked cool before this year. There’s a surprisingly rich history with most of these brands and my goal has been to obtain the archetypal example of each. Like I said this is all based on research, reading forums so I’m looking forward to your feedback.

This is the first car I’ve ever bought and I’m excited about it. These Chinese knockoffs are quite bad and I would happily get the official Tesla model but they’re all the older designs. Do you think there’s a good chance they release updated models or if they were going to do it they would have done it already? Thanks in advance.

Took the plunge, always preferred very simple and understated watches but never crossed the $10,000 threshold. Originally, I really wanted the Oyster Perpetual but after reading so many opinions, the Submariner seemed like the right entry point into Rolex. Then it was a matter of which model. I agreed with many online opinions that there seems to be a balance between vintage charm and modern elegance and also agreed with many opinions that the “Z serial” models balanced both nicely. The two line was also preferred due to a more simple face design. Original box and papers, looks to be in pretty good shape, and now I’m hooked. Thanks to everyone who nerds out about models and serials, that was very helpful in deciding.

I like to change lenses with them vertical and that’s hard to balance them with the new design.

Files by Alex Chamberlain, I appreciate it’s a replica of an actual specimen (AMNH 5027, the T Rex skull used in the Jurassic Park logo). Mounted on 3/4” Structural Pipe from the hardware store. No idea how long or how much filament it took, printer was running almost continuously for about 2 months though. Really fun project, man these things were big.

I had been stressing about whether or not to commit to Phocus for the color science but it’s very hard for me to tell a difference most of the time and if there’s something about the color I don’t like I often adjust this anyway. I’ve come to the conclusion that using a stronger/more comfortable processing software makes sense unless you’re photographic art and truly need a perfect match. The sensor still shines to me in terms of color tone separation, high dynamic range, and I really think this camera system renders greens out of camera the most accurately. This is what I tell myself to make myself feel better about not using Phocus.
