anyone taken a chemistry diagnostic exam before starting general chemistry? (california/pcc)

hi everyone! i’m an incoming freshman at pasadena city college in california, and i have to take the chemistry diagnostic exam before enrolling in chem 1a next week. it’s a test that either places you in an intro to chem class or gen chem, and i wanna get into gen chem especially after already taken honors and regular chem in high school.

i was wondering if anyone has taken this exam before, either at pcc or another college in california. how difficult was it, and what kinds of topics should i study? i’ve been reviewing general chemistry on youtube with practice problems but i’m not sure if i’m studying the right material or if i should be focusing on specific concepts.

if you’ve taken pcc’s chemistry diagnostic specifically, i’d really appreciate hearing what it was like and any advice you have. thank you!!🤞

future USC transfer student having a major crisis 😭 chemistry, aerospace engineering, or something else?

hi everyone! i’m about to start at pasadena city college this fall, and my goal is to transfer to usc after one year. lately i’ve been having the biggest major crisis. 😭

my original plan was chemistry because it was always my favorite subject, and i love skincare, so becoming a derm pa has always been my dream. it also has great pay, and i really want a career where i can do what i love while making a good living.

however, i’ve also always been passionate about space. lately i’ve been looking into aerospace engineering, and it honestly sounds amazing. the only thing holding me back is that i know not every aerospace engineering job is actually space-related, so i’m worried i’d choose it for the wrong reason.

i’m also open to other majors if there’s something that might fit my interests better. i just want to find a career i’m excited to wake up and do every day, while still having good career opportunities and earning a comfortable income.

if you were in my position, what would you do? i’d really appreciate any advice or hearing about your own experiences. thank you! 🤍

PCC or mt. sac for someone that wants to transfer to USC in 1 year?

i am a biochem/chem major and i want a cc that can give me the most resources, including available classes, online summer classes (if possible), etc. if there’s other great cc’s in socal lmk! :) perks are mt. sac is 15 min away from me while pcc would be an hour or more w/ traffic & pcc is a top cc and known to be a USC transfer power house !!! 🤗

p.s. i’d be getting free tuition for USC so that’s why im choosing it as well as its my dream school :)

cc to USC in 1 year or attend UCI for all 4 years

hello i kinda need some help!! so my dream schools have always been USC and UCB, but i did not apply to usc because of the cost (this was before i knew i could go for free) and got rejected from berk. because my mom works at a USC hospital im allowed to get 100% tuition covered from the TAB program (i called HR and they confirmed this). i would transfer to USC next year from a cc and do the 1 year transfer program. orrrr i could settle for UCI and pay 15k a year (which is a lowkey a lot). i mean UCI is a great school, but of course the financial aid they gave me wasnt the best and it was never a school that stood out to me. im a biochem/chem major. opinions and thoughts? 😣😣
