Didn't get the job

I have been interviewing for a position for nearly 3 months. I've had 4 interviews. A few days ago, the recruiter sent me a very peppy email about how she would love to call me later this week to update me. I had the call this morning. It was a rejection. Well, it was a "you don't have enough experience for this position, but we still were very impressed, and you are on our radar for other openings." Which is great and I appreciate it, but that could've been an email. I got my hopes up because they do offers as calls and rejections as emails, usually. Feeling very discouraged. I'm glad I got an update and not ghosted, but scheduling a call days in advance just to reject me felt like a little much. I hardly even said anything on the call because I just wanted to cry, and my voice was shaky. Ugh.

Tulane Hiring Question

So I have had multiple interviews for a Tulane position and I was told I was a top candidate during the last interview. The recruiter emailed me to schedule a call to “give me an update.” She honestly sounded pretty eager about this call, but I can’t help but worry. I know Tulane usually gives a verbal offers over the phone and rejections over email, but I know exceptions exist. To the people who have received a verbal offer from Tulane was this call scheduled or did they “randomly” call you?

Update Call

I have had 4 interviews for one position. My recruiter isn’t the best at communication and it has been extremely slow (it’s a university). Between every interview, I had to send a follow up before I got an answer that I made it to the next round. Each time, it’s been a email saying I made it to the next round.

I sent a follow up about my 4th round interview that happened a couple weeks ago. When we last spoke, it sounded like they were unsure if that would be the last round or not. Anyways, they got back to me and explained that they have been crazy busy and it has been “on the top of their to do list” to call me and that they would “absolutely love to connect later this week.” They scheduled a call for tomorrow morning.

I am beyond nervous! I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I know generally for this company they call for offers and email rejections. Thoughts?

Update Call

Guys, I am so nervous. I have had 4 interviews for one position. It had been a couple weeks since the last and I hadn’t heard anything, so I followed up. The recruiter got back to me and said that she has been meaning to call me to update me and hasn’t had time yet, but she will be calling me at 10 AM tomorrow.

What I last heard was I was finished with my final zoom interview, and next steps would be going in person. However, every time she scheduled my next interview, she just emailed me. So if she’s calling to say I made it to the next round, why call instead of email? I do know she recommended me for another position in the department that she thinks I would be a good fit for. But I have already interviewed for that. At first, I assumed if she’s referring me for other positions, I must be out of the running for the original one. But now I don’t know.

She seemed very eager over email and I talked to a friend who works there and she said usually if it’s a no, they will email you. But I am still so scared she’s scheduled this call to tell me no. Surely not! What would you guys think? I’m an anxious mess.

Hot Sleeper

I get soooo hot when I sleep. I've got the ice blanket, and it helps quite a bit, but I need more. What kind of things have you found help you as a hot sleeper? I see so many I would love to have, but all are out of my budget. I'd be willing to pay up to $300 for something really good. It needs to be one that just cools my part of the bed and not the whole bed, as I live with my partner, who I already freeze when we sleep, lol.

Hours have been cut

Hi guys. I work at a small business, and for the longest time I was the only office person. I worked 7:30 - 5:00 Monday - Friday. We recently hired someone new and we are extending our store hours. So my boss wants me to start working noon - 7pm. I don’t mind those hours, issue is, I get paid hourly. That will be 10 less hours a week I am getting paid for, which is significant. Like I don’t think I’ll be able to pay my rent & expenses now… I briefly mentioned my concern and he said he would talk to his business partner to try to figure something out for me, but idk. And before yall tell me to find a new job. I know. I’ve been trying. I’m in final rounds for a couple of places and hopeful, but nothing is guaranteed. Idk what to do in the meantime.

Interview Clothing

Do I have to wear neutral colors for an interview? I see people suggest navy, grey, and black mostly. If my outfit is professional still, is it bad to wear some color? I am very colorful with my clothes, so it just feels wrong and not like me. I’m not gonna show up in like a pink and purple polkadot shirt, but is something like a light yellow, pink, or light purple button up or mock neck okay? It’s a zoom panel interview. The office itself is pretty business casual. I would wear a blazer, but I live somewhere extremely hot.

Panels for Multiple Positions

Hi, so the past month or so I have been going through the interview process for an Advancement position at a large university. I had 4 interviews so far, and was told after the last one that the next step would be a in-person final round (if I make it there). They said I was on their “hot list” and that my resume was circling all around the department. This was about a week and a half ago and I haven’t heard back yet. That is not uncommon for this university. It was usually 2 - 3 weeks before I heard back about my other interviews. However, I did just get a call about me being a top candidate for a different position, also in Advancement. They scheduled a panel interview for next week for this position, meaning I’m getting to skip the initial interview stages. The recruiter who called me said that the recruiter had been working with for the other position mentioned that I may be a top candidate for this specific position. Do you think that means I’m out of the running for the one I initially interviewed for? Either way, I’m super excited! Just curious because I would hope they would tell me if I was out of the running, especially after 4 interviews.

Chronic Lack of Instruction

I work at a small business. It is a construction company and I am the only office worker there (ofc I’m a young woman working with grown men). Most the time I am there by myself. I received zero training. I do marketing for them, which I’m great at. But I also have to do sales and inventory. I had zero experience in sales/inventory and like I said, received no training in what to do. I mean like 95% of the time, I’m there only worker there. I keep getting in trouble when I make a mistake. Which I understand that stuff needs to be correct, but again, I was never taught how to do it. When I mention that I really wasn’t trained on this, my boss always says stuff like I should’ve figured it out on my own by now. So he’ll get onto me, and when I ask a question, not answer it and just say I should know. Another example, he got onto my account and changed the prices of an invoice then tried to say it wasn’t him, despite the fact that I was off that day. He’s also really bad about telling his family and friends that they can pay later, then getting onto me when he can’t track them down to pay. I am trying so hard to find a new job. I have always been someone that’s good at my job and bosses love. I feel belittled every single day here and I’m scared I’m going to get fired, even though I’m trying my best.

Important note: there are certain customers he offers discounts for and I, of course, was never told who these customers are. So I will get in trouble when I don’t give them a discount, despite the fact that I had no way of knowing.

I have watched quite a few SpongeBob deep dives. This one was posted a couple weeks ago and is my favorite so far! Very detailed and even had some information that I didn’t already know.

In your opinion, when do you think things go downhill in the show? For me, seasons 1-3 are the peak. Seasons 4, 5, and 6 are pretty good. After that its ehhhh. A lot of the new jokes just don't hit for me (like all the butt jokes lmao), and they have so many icky scenes in "new" episodes. Especially post covid. As for movies, the only one I'm actually a fan of is the original movie.

So I just watched The Vampire Diaries for the first time. I was watching it because I wanted to watch The Originals and wanted the background knowledge. I really got into it, but heard such bad things about seasons 7 and 8 that I didn't even try to watch it and just moved to The Originals. I did look up what happened in the seasons, and I see that in the end, Damon turned human to live a normal life with Elena. I'm confused because would that not cause him to die? When Katherine turned human, she aged basically immediately and died. Would that same thing not happen to Damon? I know it didn't with Elena, but she was only a vampire for a few years. I know it was the last episode, so we don't know what happened after. But was that ever acknowledged?

I have had 3 Zoom interviews for a position. It's for a university advancement position, and if you know universities, you know they take FOREVER to hire. Between each of my interviews, it's been about 3 weeks before I heard back if I made it to the next round. I just got off an interview, and she told me before she hung up the call that she's going ahead and scheduling my next interview for later this week or next. This seems like a great sign to me. That will be the last Zoom interview, then if I make it past, it will be in person next. From my understanding, the in-person isn't so much of an interview, more of a meeting with the team and discussing things further. They have been taking forever, but she said she's hoping in-person interviews will be at the beginning of May. So I'm hopeful that since it's towards the end of the process, this show will get on the road!
