Japan Part 2 : Arrival | The Jōmon Period

I’ve been working on a documentary series covering the complete history of Japan, starting with the formation of the islands and the earliest people to call them home.
This episode focuses on the Jōmon Period—one of the longest-lasting hunter-gatherer cultures in human history.

My goal is to capture the feel of those classic late ’80s and early ’90s educational documentaries while using modern visuals and research.

I’d love any feedback. Thank you!

Yamatai and Yamato

Question,
I’m working on a documentary series on Japan and I’m getting a bit confused by the early governments of Japan. I understand that the historical record is a bit vague and we don’t really know what happened at the end of the Yayoi period. Allegedly kings unify under Himiko and create the yamatai alliance and kind of control Japan for awhile and trade with china but what happens after that. Does the yamatai turn into the Yamato or are they completely separate? I think the understanding is that the Yamato was a later aliance that turned into a dynasty but I saw somewhere that the names could be mistranslations from the Chinese and they are actually the same. I don’t know just a bit confused on this any help?

VHS documentary series audio

Hello! I’m working on a project emulating late 80s early 90s style documentary’s. I’m having some trouble with the audio, would you guys recommend using a vhs plugin or how would you mess with the sound levels and distortion to make it sound like an authentic vhs?

Workin on a late 80s early 90s documentary intro. This is a rough cut (barely any audio) but what do you think I should add to make it feel real!
