So i rewatched both sequels recently and i prefer afterlife.

The plot is better with the right amount of nostalgia. Finn has a good screentime. I think it's great.

Frozen empire however falls short.

The kids all take a backseat except for Mckenna's character.

Finn has so little screentime (go deal with slimer in the attic)

The plot with Lucky is gone.

And the movie ends with him driving ecto-1(dude he fixed up the car in the 1st movie and drove it without a license)

I feel like they could have done better. Finn really got the short end of the stick there.

What if as season 5 moved on, (vol 2 ish), the cast had sensed byler not happening and they had stood up to the Duffers.

Noah: you can't do this. You litterally setup Will and Mike to be a couple. You can't just drop it. You told Finn the painting would pay off. As a gay person, i won't be a part of this unless you fix this. Stands up

During filming X2, Bryan Singer and a producer were high on something and the cast threatened to walk out if they didn't get their shit together. They did get their shit together.

Now granted, this isn't Patrick Stewart and co but I'm sure the entire cast standing together would have had some impact nonetheless.
