How do you deal with people saying “I’ll just take a quick look” at electrical stuff?
I’ve noticed something that seems pretty common in workplaces and small maintenance situations.
There’s a small electrical issue: a light not working, a box to open, a cable to check, a breaker to reset, or a piece of equipment that needs to be looked at. Then someone says, “Don’t worry, I’ll just take a quick look.”
It sounds harmless because it’s not a big job, but I feel like those “quick checks” are exactly when people skip the basic precautions or don’t really know where the limit is between what they should and shouldn’t touch.
For those of you working in the trade, how often do you see this kind of thing from non-electricians or maintenance staff?
Do you think small “quick fixes” are one of the most underestimated risks, or is it usually fine when people know their limits?
