Success story.

Hi!! So I posted a week ago that I haven’t been experiencing withdrawal symptoms since going from 75mg to 50mg and I’ve had comments say the side effects kick in after a week. But I’m still fine. Maybe an appetite decrease but nothing unbearable. I can still sleep fine and I’m not sad or angry or anything. Infact it has really helped me regulate my temperature in this heatwave.

On 75mg I had so many hot flushes and I was boiling all the time. But now on 50mg I’m relatively cool even in this heatwave. It’s amazing. Hot flushes were awful. I feel great! I don’t have headaches. Maybe some nausea when I wake up??? But it goes away after fresh air and food. I feel happy and energetic. My weird dreams have become less vivid too. I wake up no longer groggy. I don’t have any dodgy bowel or stomach issues anyway.

I’ve lost a teensy bit of weight but I’m was already like a healthy weight and I’m pretty athletic/slim so I don’t know if there was much to loose. But this could also be that my ADHD medication works more efficiently and helps me control my binge eating disorder. I feel alot more in control of what I eat and I don’t feel the urge to binge so much anymore.

ALSO I’d like to say. The reason Im taking ami is for depression and stomach pain as a side effect of my ADHD meds- guanfacine. However the pain went away at 25mg. I was prescribed 75mg to combat depression after I was SA’d and went through some other stuff. It has helped me so much. Ami is a huge success story for me.
I wanted to taper to 50mg because as a side effect of ami, I experienced genital numbness. And I dont want that anymore. Because I’m at the age (20) where I’m ready to start having consensual sexual encounters and it won’t be pleasurable with numbness. My psychiatrist and I believed I am well enough mentally to taper from 75mg to 50mg. That’s why, for context.

No negative side effects :)

I hope this gives you hope that you can withdrawal successfully!

Being told I’m a handful, pls give opinions.

I [20F] got diagnosed with autism about a year and two months ago now. And I got diagnosed with ADHD and OCD in 2021. I did GCSEs, Alevels and I passed first year of uni, going into second year next year. I’m doing a STEM degree. I struggled throughout some of it but I made it through because I always do.

My autism affects me everyday. I try to hide it with beauty and fashion. It works I believe. I always get told I’m beautiful. “You could model” “You’re autistic? Really? You don’t look autistic” Despite struggling I still do everything a person would usually do. I think I cope remarkably well and I’m very proud of how far I’ve come.

But every relationship I’ve been in has ended badly or I’ve had my feelings really hurt. My last boyfriend Sa’d me. Coercion. It’s a complicated situation and my parents support me with it and hate him. But they also say I’m naive. I’m innocent. Make it feel like it’s my fault for not realising what he was doing. Say that my autism makes me more trusting.

So he was 7 months ago. I believe I’m ready to try dating again. And I want to say, with my ex, I was not a handful. I was an amazing girlfriend. I would get us tickets for things (even if sometimes he didn’t show), I’d comfort him. I never lashed out at him or even got any kind of angry at him. I’d even comfort him when he was a bad boyfriend. Even if I felt it. I was so so kind. And I can say for a fact. I was not a handful with him. If anything he was the handful, and he was not neurodivergent.

My parents tell me I’m a handful. “You’ll find the right one one day, someone who can handle you” “you’re alot to deal with, sweetheart” “It takes someone with alot of patience to deal with people like you”

I want to preface that my parents are wonderful and have helped me through so much and love me deeply. But it just feels hurtful when they say that. Maybe I was a handful 6 years ago when I was un medicated and simultaneously going through puberty. But I know I’m kind and gentle and loving and generous because I’ve been told that by friends my entire life. My friends don’t think I’m a handful. They say I handle my neurodivergence remarkably well and don’t let it define me.

Sometimes I feel like people are incapable of loving me gently. I feel maybe I’m the problem and something about me just screams “hurt me”. I just want to be loved gently though. Someone who doesn’t find me “a handful”. I don’t know. I’m typing this now because I just got cancelled on for the second time by a guy who I actually really like. He’s the first guy I felt something for after being so numb for a while after my evil ex. Yet I still told him it’s ok and we can rearrange. Maybe I have no self respect. I’ve even helped this guy through stuff.

And I’m not innocent. I’ve had a a consensual sexual encounter and made out with a few guys in a club. I’m capable of functioning. I can last in a loud club for a five hours without it being too much. I don’t know why people still treat me like I’m not. I have to always weigh up telling people I have autism because then if I do get a little overwhelmed so they’ll understand. Or not telling them because it’s like exposing my neck for an attack during the battle of Hastings.

I don’t think there is someone out there who will love me gently because I just think it’s too easy to hurt me. I think I’ve probably contradicted myself in this whole essay. I’m starting to accept it now. I’m a very self aware person so it makes my therapy feel silly cause what more can they tell me? Oh well. I’ll probably go to the cinema alone today instead of seeing the guy and stuff my face with popcorn to try and get over the ache in my chest from being stood up again.

Not having withdrawal symptoms

Hi I’ve been tapering from 75mg to 50mg slowly over the last 3 weeks and I don’t believe I’ve had any withdrawal symptoms at all. I’ve been on it for 5 years. Has anyone else experienced this? Like maybe I have a lower appetite but I’ve also taken up running. Idk. I’ve seen a lot of discussion about how bad the withdrawal symptoms can be but I think I’m all clear. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Remembering new things

hi please respond to this if you have the time I’m really struggling with what to think. I was coerced into sex but I just remembered something that happened when we were intimate and I’m not sure what to think of it. I had said to him I don’t want to do anal. So he was trying to insert himself.
(Bare in mind he’d had sex about 84 times with someone else before this, yes, I know, long story, that all ties him into coercing me)
But anyway he knew how to have sex surely right? So he kept prodding my asshole and I’m like “that’s my ass” and he kept being like “no it’s not” and kept trying to insert himself quite a few times into my ass until i eventually reached down and showed him it wasn’t. I don’t really know whether to think anything of this or not. Maybe he didn’t realise he was doing it? Like maybe he actually didn’t know it was my ass. I can’t remember what position we were in. I’ve blocked most our intimacy out of my memory. There was also times where he would line himself up with me without a condom and say things like “who needs safe sex” when he knows I would never do anything without a condom. Yeah any feedback would be helpful please 😣
