Returned to Kramarczuk’s with my grandpa for DoorsOpen

So today I met my grandpa over in St. Paul and took the 61 Bus over to Southeast and Northeast Minneapolis for Doors Open. We first went to the Como Community Center, but then eventually took the 61 bus again over to Kramarczuk’s Sausage. My Grandpa got the Polish Kielbasa and I got the Grinder Sandwich. Both were great, with me trying a small bite of the Kielbasa that my grandpa got. My grandpa also got one their beers. When we left, we realized we were lucky enough to there when we did, as when we left there was a long line of people. We also took the 11 bus over to the Mississippi watershed, and then took the 32 and 83 buses back after we went to Antiquified Antiques to get my mom something for Mother’s Day. Anyways the food at Kramarczuk’s was great as always and I definitely see my some coming back here in the near future

East Hennepin Avenue and 2nd Street Southeast

Anyways like always, the details on how to get their on the bus

Right along the route 61, E Line, Route 4 and a 3 minute walk to the Route 11, 4 minutes to Route 10 and 17

So I was riding the B Line today, and was going over the lake street bridge. As we were going westbound, I saw that the westbound bus lanes o n the lake street bridge were once again closed. This happened multiple times last summer. Not only were there bus lane closures on the lake street bridge, but there will also bus lane closures around lake and 11th.. And what’s worse is it feels like there not even doing anything with these closures. When we went over the bridge, there was no construction going on in the bus lane on lake street bridge. It feels like they just put these lane closures here on purpose just to cause the buses to get stuck in traffic and cause delays for bus riders

So I was on the 94 express bus today as I was trying to go on a walk in North Minneapolis, and once I got to downtown Minneapolis, there were multiple people getting on the bus in downtown. This is very annoying as there are multiple other buses in downtown you can take and I don’t know why anyone would feel the need to get on the 94 bus when you could just take the C Line, D Line and more. People getting on the 94 and making local trips downtown causes dwell times to be longer making the overall trip longer, which is something we should have to deal with. If you in downtown Minneapolis, and going to downtown Minneapolis, you shouldn’t be getting on the 94 bus. The 94 isn’t a local bus, it’s an express. You should be using it for express trips, not local trips. Like I get that there’s nothing prohibited you from making a local trip downtown on the 94, however I feel it would be nice if people had the common sense to realize that downtown local trips shouldn’t be made on an express bus when there’s other downtown buses you can use to make that same trip

So I was leaving my house and was trying to get on the B Line for one stop to skip a bit of walking to get over the 94 bus stop quicker. When I looked at Google Maps, it said no upcoming departures. This was when I looked at Selby and Hamline. Then I looked the other stops on Selby, it also said no upcoming departures. Then I looked at metro transit detours and saw that it said there would be a detour for the B Line and Route 72 between snelling and Dale. However this wouldn’t be happening until may 11th. So I guess Google Maps thinks this detour is in session today, even though metro transit alerts says it doesn’t start until the 11th, and Transit app says there are still departures for the B Line, at Selby and

Also pictured is Meritage Famous Pommes Frites. The Rabbit Rillettes were definitely my favorite out of all of these, and the Veal was also pretty good, but I didn’t love the taste of it. I also do feel the frites were kind of cold and soggy though, only thing saving them was the béarnaise sauce. Restaurant is also right along the route 64, 63, 74, 54, 61 and 94 buses and a 4 minute walk to the Route 3, 62, and 67 buses and a 7 minute walk to the 71 and 68 and the Green Line.

So right now the Green Line is shutdown and buses are replacing the green line. Later this year, we will also get more shutdown of light rail, including from June 29th to August 19th the green line will be shutdown from West Bank to target field, and the blue line will be fully shutdown. Due to these shutdown, we lose a huge amount of capacity on the green and blue line. Not only that, but the replacement buses are much slower, due to the fact that they don’t have dedicated lanes, and the path is less direct, like how eastbound green line buses have to make a detour onto como avenue to reach its stop, or how blue line buses have to stop in the bus depot, rather than just stopping on Hiawatha. With all this in mind, I think it’s only fair if metro transit runs these replacements buses at every 5 minutes, or every 2 and a half minutes if we are in downtown and both lines have replacements buses. Eventually, next year the blue line will have replacements buses for a year and half (at least that’s what I think) to renovated Franklin and lake street, so I think it’s quite important to do this to prevent riders from being deterred from riding the replacement buses and possibly not even riding the light rail ever again. They should also put temporary bus lanes on Hiawatha and university Avenue to prevent delays during rail closures. If metro transit doesn’t want to lose riders, I feel this is very necessary to do if they don’t want to lose customers due to a large increase in travel time. Also I feel there is no reason for the buses to get off of Hiawatha and stop in the bus depot, when they could save so much time by just making the stop on Hiawatha instead
