Pre-tax whole-life insurance
Hi. The hospital I work at is going to start offering what they call a "Capital Accumulation Plan." The way I understand it, they take pre-tax money to buy a whole-life insurance policy, and the idea is that you can save a bunch of taxes by doing this. The main rules are that you have to invest a minimum of $40k per year for 3 years, and you can start borrowing from the policy after year 5. What are the downsides to this type of product? Are the tax savings worth giving a bunch of money to another company?
