What are the beauty standards in Portugal?

Where I’m from, Latino men and women are seen as the standard of beauty. I’m curious, what is the beauty standard for most people in Portugal?

Met a guy claiming to be a diplomat. Too good to be true, or am I paranoid?

I met someone on a dating app who claims to have a job related to diplomacy. I’m skeptical because I figure diplomats are way too busy to be on dating apps.

He hasn't asked for money or nudes, and the conversation actually feels genuine and normal. But I still can't shake the feeling. Could this be a long-con scam, or am I overthinking a good thing?

How can an average person fight a big company without hiring an expensive law firm?

Is this even possible? Im seeking for damages.

Do i actually have a chance? please give me a reality check. put yourself in my shoes for a second, not just as a lawyer. i don't want to get my hopes up because i don't want to relive this whole thing for nothing.

Update & Clarification re my traumatic hotel experience

I initially wanted to delete my post after I calmed down. I just wanted to vent and didn't expect so many replies. I checked out at 6 am today and went home na.

While processing my thoughts and reading the comments, I'm actually shocked I didn't lash out. I realized that it was good that I didn't overreact. I was tired, but mostly it's because I'm not from Bacolod. I felt I shouldn't act aggressively and just accepted the situation. If I had reacted violently to the waiter, people probably wouldn't side with me, especially since I'm an outsider. Thank God I didn't do that because social media only sees one side. I will be viral for the wrong reason.

Again, I didn't originally name L'Fisher Hotel in the post. I want to keep it that way so it doesn't ruin their overall image. They have a lot of good, hospitable staff and that one employee is just an exception. I would still recommend it to future tourists.

But I want to highlight that I am waiting for them to show accountability like they promised. Let's give management a chance to see how they rectify this. I don't want cancel culture. That's unfair to the business, especially since I learned from the comments that it's a top recommendation by locals, which is also why my friends recommended it to me.

Let's just wait on their promise.

PS: Since I'm keeping my legal options open in case L'Fisher downplays this whole situation, please recommend a good lawyer who can fight for me to obtain justice.

Ruined family weekend in Bcd: Publicly shamed and yelled at by hotel staff over a 1k bill

I just need to get this off my chest because I am still incredibly upset and traumatized by how my family and I were treated today. We traveled all the way from dgte to bcd looking forward to a relaxing family getaway, but instead, it turned into a humiliating experience.

I placed an order for their b1t1 cocktails, unlimited nachos, and ginger tea promo. Later on, believing that my refill was covered under the unlimited promo, I ordered another round. The waiter mentioned something about a "nachos bowl." I honestly did not know they had a completely separate menu for the promo versus ala carte, so I just agreed, assuming it was standard.

Let us be real, as a guest, I cannot be expected to memorize their entire menu structure. Is it not standard restaurant procedure for a server to repeat the order back to the customer? Especially when an establishment runs two separate menus with almost identical items, the burden is on the staff to clarify and confirm exactly what the guest is getting. They completely skipped that basic step. Besides, who in their right mind would intentionally opt out of an unlimited promo just to pay extra for a single ala carte bowl?

The trouble started when I asked a different waiter for another refill. This new waiter flatly told me my order was not unlimited. I insisted it was, so he went over to verify with the original server. Instead of handling their own communication failure professionally, the original waiter came back and claimed he had explicitly told me it was a bowl order. Make it make sense. Nag order nako duha kabuok ug refill from another waiter. Ako term “refill sa unli” wala ko gicorrect pero pag another na nga round usa pa ni react.

When I tried to reason with him, the waiter completely lost his temper and raised his voice at me, aggressively lecturing me about the difference between the promo and the ala carte menu. I wanted to stand my ground because I know what I ordered, but the waiter was creating such a scene that I felt an overwhelming sense of shame & anxiety with everyone around us watching. To avoid a massive public commotion in front of my family and the other guests, I just swallowed my pride and told him it was fine and that I would just pay for it. Kay hellooooo kagamay sa 1k oy i mean in this economy big sya but oy maguol jud ko and ruin our vacay for that???? NOT WORTH IT

I thought the drama was over, but it was when the bill was brought out that I realized there was actual bad faith and a deliberate intent to publicly humiliate me.
After we finished showering, the waiter brought the bill to our table for my signature. His manner was incredibly rude. He did not even bother to explain where I needed to sign; he just bluntly told me to sign it and immediately walked away. No proper greeting, no customer service, and absolutely zero acknowledgment of the previous miscommunication or their failure to repeat the order in the first place.

Kaingon mo mana na? Wala pa. the the worst part happened when we are about to leave na. In a loud voice meant for the entire place to hear, he called us out and demanded that we come back because we apparently still needed to sign two more bills. 😭 mura kog nishop sa grocery store nya nitingog ang alarm. I am not guilty but makaulaw! Gets mo? Lupa kainin mo ako feels. He made sure to say it in a tone that made everyone turn around and look at us like we were trying to run out on the check.
That was the exact moment I exploded inside. It was pure malice on his part. Since we were currently staying as guests in the hotel, the amount was going to be directly charged to our room account anyway kay i give him our room number plus it was in the receipt, there was absolutely no operational need to sign three separate pieces of paper. To make matters worse, the other papers were just duplicate copies; signing the original was more than enough.

He intentionally weaponized a duplicate receipt just to shout at us and publicly humiliate me right in front of my parents and the other guests.

I have absolutely no intention of degrading myself or causing a scene over a bill that was barely 1k!!! The money is not the issue here. It is the sheer lack of basic customer respect and human decency. Commercial establishments owe their guests a high degree of courtesy, and using a billing misunderstanding as a tool to maliciously target and badger a guest is completely unacceptable. discriminatory jud abi siguro niya di mi maka afford since we are always taking pictures hahaha basin kaingon sya first time maka adto sa hotel??? IDK! IDK JUD UNSA NAAS IYA HUNAHUNA

No traveler or guest deserves to be treated like a criminal over a communication mix up. Definitely never coming back here. Grabe sa ka daghan nga positive things about bcd na overpower sya because of this incident!!!! 😭😭😭

Hi, mga sibs!

I'm currently looking into bar review centers and considering the Ateneo (ALS) Review. I’m planning to get just the 10k package (online live stream + materials).

I’m a working student, so I need to make sure this is enough. I’m worried about missing out on "coaching" or "mock bars" that usually come with more expensive packages or other RCs like Jurists.

  1. For those who took ALS Review recently, is the 10k online-only package sufficient to pass?

2)Are the materials (handouts/notes) comprehensive enough to be my primary source?

  1. Does it feel "lacking" without the one-on-one coaching?

Any insights would be a huge help 🙏🏼 Maraming salamat po!
