I'm rewatching and trying to analyse scenes from ep1. Here you can see the crows are circling around, which they only do when there is a dead body below. Did the Matthews family died and the crows are circling their bodies? Maybe their soul got trapped there. I know the writers confirmed that fromville is a real place and not a purgatory, but I'm saying maybe it's a different place trapping souls.
