My inspiration picture

I'm 6'3", 59 yo man and I weighed 263 on June 10, 2026. I was convinced that I could lose the weight with protein, fiber, and exercise. And I was losing weight but still eating ice cream and cake and binging on chips like I'd always done.

I had scheduled my appointment with the telehealth doctor from BEWL but I still thought I might cancel and still go it on my own because my wife wasn't on board.

On July 12th, I went to dinner with some friends and we took this picture after dinner. When they sent me the picture I was so horrified and how bad I looked but I kept the appointment that I had for the very next day. On June 19th I took my first shot of 2.5 tirz compound. I weigh 246.4.

I did my 5th shot tonight. Going up to 3.0 on the doctor's advice.

I'm working very hard, listening to all the advice from Reddit - you've all been very helpful, and sticking to the program. I weighed in at 234.3, this morning - down 12.1 lbs since starting Tirz. I took another picture with the same shirt and the similar pair of pants on, tonight. I might keep doing this picture all the way down to 180, my goal.

Training Camp pics 8/11/26

We got a great spot in stands adjacent to the hill with a great view of the end zone.

These are my best 3 pics.

For those who celebrate.

Dont feel tempted

I just gave myself my second dose of 2.5, last night. I've had some side effects but nothing brutal.

The real thing I noticed is that I don't feel tempted to eat the bad food that my wife buys. As close as 2 weeks ago I would have eaten most of this half gallon of ice cream that she bought for herself. It's been in there for over a week and I haven't even thought about it.

I'm sure part of it is a medicine but another part of it is mindset. I don't want to start over. I quit drinking you 32 years ago and there were steps along the way where I could have started drinking again but the main reason I didn't was because I didn't want to start counting back from day one again. Today is day 11,844 of sobriety.

Hoping I have the same success with this that I've had with drinking.

Shopping in advance of my first shot

Just got back from the store. Spent a lot of money on fruits vegetables and things like you see here. I also have lots of fruits and vegetables, chicken, and a little ground beef. I already have ground turkey and ground chicken at home. I compiled my list from a lot of the recommendations on this sub and a number of videos I watched.

First Tirz shot tomorrow early evening.

Great first call

Last night I had my first call with my provider - Dr Thomas Pentzer at Big Easy. The call went so much better than I expected. I thought it would be very dry and clinical. But it was like a conversation with a friend. He asked about my reasons for wanting to try Tirz and listened more than he talked. He had definitely read my chart and knew a lot about me from my medical records which is more than I can say for a lot of doctors I've seen over the years.

The call lasted about 45 minutes. I couldn't get an appointment until 10:30 p.m. last night which is pretty late for me, at this point in my life but I just kept talking because I'm really good at that - much to my wife's chagrin.

I feel like he thoroughly explained the process and the next steps while adding his own personal anecdotes since he's not only a GLP-1 doctor, he's also a client (IYKYK) 😉

I'm really looking forward to starting this journey in about a week. I told him about this thread and a few others that I've learned a lot from on Reddit.

I'm not allowed to talk about her dementia

I forget that I'm not allowed to talk about my wife's dementia with anyone, ever.

She reminded me of that, this afternoon, when I accidentally revealed that I had been talking to someone I've known for 15 years and she has met many, many times.

I tried to explain that this friend's Father-in-law had a similar issue and I only talked to her because she "gets it."

Biiig mistake.

My wife doesn't want anyone to know about her condition and is fine with me suffering in silence never allowed to talk about how this impacts me.

All despite the fact that everyone (that matters) in my large family knows, as well as the people in my monthly caregivers support group, and my boss.

I know this is just a part of dementia but sometimes I get very frustrated. If you read this, remember that i didn't tell you about it.

Here's a picture of our dog as an offset to this downer post.
