I don't trust patterns that only show mannequins

When patterns don't have any pictures of the item on a model, only on a mannequin, i don't trust them not to be crap :/ It's definitely more common in knitting and crochet patterns than sewing ones. And i know not everyone can afford a model or wants to model their own stuff yada yada. But i simply do not trust the fit! I'm sceptical as is when their only model is a size 6, but a bunch of plastic in the vague shape of a person? Nah. Hard pass.

I bought another planner...

But it's different to the others!

Will it fix everything? Nope!

Will it help? Hopefully!

Pin display board

This is my first project outside of a class/workshop and I learned a lot! Including that mitering by hand is an exercise in frustration 🥲

The back is a disaster tbf. Because there's no glass or backing board to add structure, my joints kept breaking. So I ended up buying some metal brackets to add strength. I also forgot to account for the depth of the pin backs, so just glued strips of foam to the back of it. If I were to do it again, I'd make a second frame with butt joints and sandwich the fabric between the two frames to solve both problems.

But given that i just winged this whole thing, I'm quite proud!

I finally cleaned my sewing table!

It's almost 8pm and I've just spent the last 2 hours cleaning and organising my sewing table because i got it in my head. But I'm so happy with it!

It's been buried under wips and became kind of a dumping ground for a while. Unfortunately i don't have a picture of before, but you could barely see the table 💀

I finally organised some of the non-sewing junk last week and impulsively decided to do the rest tonight 😅

I still have a stack of fabric to organise and put away. And Jiji in the background has been on my "to fix" list for literally a year. But a win is a win!

Quest for well fitting pants

I really love the Calder pants from Cashmerette, and I've been futzing with the fit.

First time (teal) was a bit too loose at the waist. It's a half elastic waistband, but I took in the elastic as much as i could and it was still a tiny bit too loose.

Second go (navy), I took in the pants at the side seams. But it had the fun affect of pulling the inseam tight along my stomach.

I'm not entirely sure if i need more room in the stomach area, or a deeper crotch curve. I think I'm just going to suck it up and make a second muslin and mess around with it :/

I will make well fitting pants, damn it!

Bonus Patrick photobomb

Edit: everyone roasting me for not ironing the navy shorts is 100% valid 😅 I didn't really think about it, even though i should have. I did make a muslin previously, which I don't have anymore, so i didn't go in totally raw

Subtle/casual pride decor?

So I've been wanting to incorporate some pride stuff into my place, but I'm looking for something beyond just sticking a flag on the wall. I tried looking around for inspo, but Google doesn't know the meaning of "subtle" :/

Does anyone have any recs or ideas? My style is kind of vintage eclectic if that helps, but I'm open to anything
