Title: Best platform for long-term

Im 40 years old and live in Europe and want to invest a lump sum of $40,000 (I hold a usd account so no exchange fees) in an accumulating Vanguard S&P 500 UCITS ETF
My plan is simple: invest the money as a lump sum and leave it there for 15–20 years. I’m not interested in trading.
What would you consider the safest and simplest platform/broker for this?

Mainly looking for:

Safety of my investment if the broker fails

Low fees

Easy to use

Reliable for long-term buy-and-hold

Which platform would you personally choose for this as Im completely new.

For the next 3-4 years I will not add anything for sure , I will not even track the performance for my peace of mind.. in essence I will forget that money ..

Which platform would you personally choose for this as Im completely new.

New 125 scooter

Hello, I am looking for a new scooter (125cc), purely for the city traffic. The problem is I am 190cm and most of them feel tight regarding knee room. I would prefer something like the sym symphony st, sh 125, mendly 125 (more upright ) but I sat on them it wasnt so comfy. Regarding scooters like pcx or nmax i feel they are too low.

Has anyone tried the sym adx 125? (open to other suggestions as well)

For the record the forza 125, vespa gts 125, xmax 125 are above my budget

Office relocation and commute

About 6 months ago, I had two job offers with very similar pay and benefits. One of the main reasons I chose my current company was the commute , it was significantly shorter and gave me a much better work-life balance.

A few months after joining, the company announced they were relocating the office. The new location adds roughly 50 minutes each way to my commute (so about 1 hour and 40 minutes extra every day).

Honestly, my life has become miserable since the move. I leave home earlier, get back much later, and arrive home completely exhausted and drained. I feel like I spend my life either working or commuting.

The job itself is okay, but the commute is seriously affecting my quality of life, energy levels, and even my mood.

My dilemma is that I've only been here 6 months. It feels too soon to start job hunting again, and I'm worried it will look bad on my resume. On the other hand, I don't know if I can realistically keep doing this long-term.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I asked for work from home but was denied

Best holidays ever

Oh my gosh! This country is absolutely stunning, but it’s the people who make it truly special. The friendliness, warmth, and hospitality here are on another level. Easily some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

Avoidant ex reached out after 5 months

She reached out sending this message :

I felt like the need to reconnect with you. I think a lot about my life with you there & how it was an emotional challenging human experience. I’m still not over it. I was so scared of making choices, committing to something, surrendering to the unknown, and taking chances that it paralysed me. My mental health was and is still wobbly. I know it came in our way and it’s taking a toll on me now. I wish we’d communicate better, I wish I had worked on my family stuff too. Probably I put so much expectations on you to “save me” that, every thing that was uncomfortable or new to me , was so amplified. And I know I tried to embody the savior for you for a certain time too and so much pressure was there.
In a recent trip I cried a lot of grief. I went surfing thinking about us and why I always felt shame, or fear of disappointing you. Like I had to be good at or as interested in your passions and you at mine. There were stakes where there should have been curiosity. In retrospect, I don’t know how you went through the loss of your mother without breaking. I’m here at my parents, I can’t find a job, the last interview thing went down the drain because their offer was so low in the end, and it makes me feel useless. I guess I’m just looking for words of support from you, since you’ve known dark places and always had kind words to me. I don’t like how I violently ended things, I just didn’t want to be a burden or cause drama longer than necessary and I’m sorry If I hurt you and me.

Thoughts?

Ps : we live in different countries now

UPDATE : she did sent me a second follow-up message

“I’m actually starting a treatment against depression. I guess that’s a forced way and just half the way to clear my head. There will be so much work to be done, slowly. The last days were the most challenging to me, i can’t even think of the next days, I never thought I would ever experience that kind of thought and pain in my head/body in my life. Life and our own emotions towards each other didn’t spare us but I know they were there to teach us even if it’s hard to see in the moment. We did what we could back then. I just want to say that even though I felt so useless there and not productive not sociable not good enough, I know I tried to be there for you however I could back then and so did you.”

4 months post-breakup (2,5 year relationship)and I feel like I’m stuck in this weird in-between stage.

I did everything people say you’re supposed to do. I went no contact. I didn’t beg, didn’t chase, didn’t even text her on her birthday even though it took everything in me not to. I’ve tried focusing on work, routines, gym, friends… acting like I’m moving forward.

But every 3-4 weeks she pops back up somehow. She messages me .. A song, a photo. A random photo from a trip. A subtle breadcrumb that feels just intentional enough to mess with my head but never enough to actually mean anything.

What really threw me off recently is that she unblocked me on Instagram. She blocked me when we broke up, and now months later suddenly unblocked me , even though my profile is private. Maybe it means nothing, but when you’re still trying to heal, small things feel huge.

She’s very avoidant emotionally, which somehow makes this harder. It’s like she keeps finding ways to reappear without ever actually communicating directly. Enough to keep me thinking, never enough to give clarity.

And every single time I start healing a little, it resets me.

What’s killing me is that silence would almost be easier. Instead I’m left overanalyzing everything:
“Does she miss me?”
“Is she testing if I still care?”
“Why reach out if you don’t want me in your life?”

I know some people will say “just ignore her,” which I do, but part of me still hopes there’s meaning behind it. And I hate admitting that because logically I know I deserve clarity, not confusion.

The hardest part is accepting that someone can still occupy your mind every day while probably thinking about you only in passing.

I miss her. I miss who I was with her. And honestly I’m exhausted from pretending I’m handling it better than I actually am.

Did anyone else struggle more at month 4 than month 1? Because somehow it feels heavier now.
