992.1 GT3 track day after DIY Dundon exhaust install

A couple weeks ago I did a track day with my freshly installed Dundon exhaust system (headers + high flow cats + steel muffler).

Here’s my take away:
- It’s just nuts and bolts. If it isn’t a daily driver and you can take your time with the install, I recommend it. It’s nice to tinker and get a little more familiar with the car.

- Exhaust systems are mostly for the street. On track you’re at 6k - 9k rpm the whole time and focused on the driving so you can’t tell the difference. I’ve done around a dozen track days in this car.

- Dundon claims low drone and no CEL. So far, plenty of drone and I do have a cat efficiency CEL lol.

I’m still amazed at how fantastic this car is to drive on the track. I wish there were more rear engine options out there.

Can anyone guess what track is in the photo?

How to fit socket in this tight space (header nut)

Car: 2024 911 gt3. Trying to install aftermarket headers.

I am trying to get a socket onto this 12mm header nut to torque it. This is my first time doing this. Nothing has been straight forward with this project so far 😁

- The header pipe is too close to the nut to fit any socket I have cleanly onto it.
- There is a black metal piping (water pump return?) blocking where a crowfoot could go.
- I bought an Icon 1/4 12mm thin wall socket and it almost fits but no, it’s cocked at an angle due to not fitting.

I ordered a Koken 1/4 12mm z-series thin wall socket, still in the mail, maybe that will fit?

How do mechanics do it? Am I missing a tool?

New headers have a nick in the face

I’m not sure if this matters and looking for advice.

You can see the indent on the right side of the face. Definitely can feel it with fingernail.

Looks like the machinist also filed down the face there to minimize the imperfection. To my eye and by feeling it appears to be a level surface, but it’s clear there’s evidence that it was adjusted.

Is this a problem, considering there will be a gasket and it’s not super close to the opening?

I have a 30 day warranty on these, wondering if I should reach out or not…

I’ve never installed a header before, so not sure what’s acceptable for this part or not.

Thanks!!!!

How to remove tape residue from PPF?

From a track day I used painters tape for the numbers and it left a residue from the adhesive. The car has ppf.

I’ve given my car a couple regular washes already (I start with an acidic touchless and then do a regular neutral wash) and this only comes off a little bit.

How can I safely remove this adhesive? I’m concerned that the ppf is plastic itself so the chemical I choose has to be the right one.

It’s a 992 gt3 in shark blue. I typically do all washes myself.

Any ideas? Is goo gone safe on ppf?
