Beach-type area in nova to just go sit with my dog?

My old man crosses the rainbow bridge on Monday. Our best adventures included hiking and running on the sand. We like leesylvania state park but that's just a bit far for us right now. Is there anything Fairfax county/arlington/alexandria maybe with some sand where we could reasonably expect to chill?

Dog with CCD--potential need for surgery

I have an 11 year old hound dog that was diagnosed with CCD earlier this year. It started with a lot of stress behaviors (rifling through the trash, being destructive, bolting out the door when I went to leave). We got him on doggy Prozac and Xanax which definitely help the anxiety behaviors. Not 100% but a lot better.

For added context, he underwent surgery last fall to remove a cancerous tumor from his leg (pre-CCD). He was VERY nauseous as a result (I've never seen a dog produce so much saliva ever) and refused food for days until we got him on appetite stimulants.

More recently, he's had a reluctance to eat generally. We did a full work up at the vet and could find no clinical reason for refusing food. And I mean refusing chicken, which has been his favorite thing. Ultimately, I think it's related to his CCD given other cognitive things I'm seeing. He seems confused a lot, needs a very strict routine to settle, paces, etc.

The concern: while we were at the vet getting the full work up, the vet found small bladder stones on his X-ray. All very small, no need for surgical intervention at this point. Trying to treat with diet. BUT our guy has a sensitive GI tract (on GI biome), and couldn't tolerate any urinary food. The GI biome food on its own may help, but we go back for a new check in a couple weeks.

IF there is not a marked improvement in the stones, the vet said we can either surgically remove or sedate him and go in and try to use a laser of sorts to break them up so he can pass them naturally. However I have serious concerns given his cognitive state and how he reacted to anesthesia PRIOR to signs of CCD that this would seriously impact his cognitive decline and/or exacerbate the food issues again.

I guess I'm looking for insight as to the actual risk of anesthesia on CCD and whether surgical intervention would even be worth it. I know every dog is different but would appreciate insights. Thanks in advance ❤️

Cheapest seat is $180???

I paid just over that for TWO tickets vs Canada last summer. Philly tickets are just over half that. The heck??
