Anyone else get annoyed when your favourite show suddenly introduces children/pregnancy to main story line?

One of my favourite comedy shows ended season 3 with a pregnancy announcement for the side chick of the main character. Probably won’t watch season 4 if it’s all about the tropes of babies and parenthood. I’m just so disappointed.

I’m having trouble hiding how miserable I am with my mom around all the time now.

It’s been almost 8 months that she has lived here. I can’t hide how much I am miserable, I feel really guilty. I’m not mean just neutral and trying not to be pissed off (not at her but at the disease and circumstances).

I just can’t hide how unhappy I am.

I can’t stand being around her but there are no other options. The only time I feel happy is after she is asleep or if she is at her day program and I spend the day dreading to have to pick her up.

Sorry… needed to vent.

Had to do a speech at my friends wedding after they announced they’re expecting.

I had to do a fucking speech at my friends wedding last night after they made this huge mid wedding announcement. I feel gutted. I feel (even though I shouldn’t) that it was cruel timing. I have now removed them from my lives as I feel I did deserve some warning. I also feel jealous and sad. I don’t want to see them play out my dream in real time.

I feel ashamed of how I come off speaking to my mum in public (it has to be very clear, simple and a bit louder for it to register)

But it can come off so pedantic, cold and insulting if you’re unaware of how this whole thing works.

People who bring small children to dog parks…. A rant

What the actual fuck. I have a very lovely dog who is somewhat wary of children but non aggressive. I still
DO NOT WANT TO RISK MY SHIT LEGALLY when some inattentive negligent parent lets her 3 children under 5 run feral in the dog park. There’s literal rules posted for good reason - even if you had a pack of 10 “friendly dogs who all liked children” you could still be sued if they knocked over the child.

I had to leave today after a lady came in, followed by 3 children under five, one looked like 2/3 years old. Let themselves into the park (um, if they accidently let me dog out I would have been pretty upset!) and ran towards her. They got swarmed by dogs barking at them, little girl was screaming, and then I grabbed my dog and left because there’s no fucking way I want that liability. She kept saying “oh sorry, you don’t have to leave, I didn’t know they would come in! They love dogs! Tehy’ll be fine!”

UM SORRY

  1. Was she going to leave them in your fucking car in the summer? Seems like she KNEW they were coming but didn’t feel the need to ask anyone if their dogs were ok with children

  2. Absolutely fuck her negligence towards her kids putting them in a scenario where they could have been easily injured

  3. How dare she be so entitled

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

My ministry continues to have minors and others work outside during heat and air quality warnings

I’m a student so if I go home I miss a pay day (no paid sick days per contract). There are others that are under 18 too. We work outside for our job. Is there some recourse? Can I speak with the press?

Our bosses don’t care, they all sit in an office all day.

So tired of people using their children as an excuse to be terrible friends.

I am going through a very difficult times with multiples traumatic losses and terminal illness with caregiving in my life. Essentially I care for the equivalent of a toddler, without the reward and accolades that society gives parents, plus I have to deal with watching my mother slowly forget how to live and who I am. It’s a soul crushing disease. My friends have totally abandoned me except for platitudes, many are in their first couple years of parenthood or pregnant. I make sure to call them several times a month to check in and show support. That is ending, I am so so so hurt that these fucking people can send me platitudes like “thinking about how strong you are every day <3” but don’t even bother to text me more than once in six months. Even when they knew I brought my mom into hospice recently with life threatening pneumonia. Where does the selfishness and entitlement come from? I can GUARENTEE i am just as busy and sleep deprived as them. “Life is so busy when you have kids” FUCK OFF.

The only people who bother to check in are my childfree friends and a couple new folks from work.

I’m so mad and sad.

Anyone else get this phrase from others a lot recently? Is it the new generic go to empty platitude?

“Thinking about how strong you are every day”

I want to be like “ok cool, can you phone me sometimes when you’re thinking about me?”

I just heard it three times recently from close friends who have disappeared during this journey (also lost a pregnancy and my father in the last year- so my grief is heavy on top of the anticipatory grief of caring for a mother with later stages of dementia).

Anyway I wonder if it’s the result of chat-gpting what to say, or if it’s the new “so sorry you’re going through this,”

Honestly I hate the “let me know if I can do anything”, but “thinking about you everyday (lie)” is even less helpful AND not really kind in that it’s a total conversation ender.

Anyway, in a really dark place today with grief and burnout and it feels like I’m a dark hole that no one wants to be around, like I have a severely contagious disease or something.

Having friends ditch you just feels like an extra cruelty to loss and caregiving.

Thanks for listening.

I hate meal time

I hate having to listen to the fork on her teeth and slurps and yet have to sit directly beside her as she will get up and throw it out or feed it to an animal. And she eats so. so. fucking. slow.

Please no advice, just needed to rant.
