Wlw recs with disabilities?

It's July, which means Disability Pride month! I'm looking for wlw books ir nblw with characters that have disabilities, preferably ones that impact them physically. (I have Lupus, hydrocephalus, and just had a disc replacement)

I would prefer if the main character was butch or nonbinary, or just not super feminine. I've been tossing around a lot of mental questions about my own gender identity. One of the best ways I figure things out is by reading about people like me in books and seeing how they handle whatever similar situation they (and me) are in.

Thanks so much!

Growing taller after disc replacement?

Hi all. I just had a c6-7 disc replacement on the 23rd, iirc it was titanium but I don't really know because I was pretty out of it lol. As of rn my biggest complaint is really bad heartburn, which is odd, wasn't expecting that.

Anyway, has anyone grown taller after a replacement heals? I figured bc I'd eventually be standing up straighter it might add a few fractions of an inch, which is better than nothing. I'm not expecting anything huge lol.

Kit to teach basics in USA?

Hi all,

I'm wanting to learn hand embroidery. I'm in the USA, east coast. Is there a good kit that will help me to learn the basic stitches and do a stitch sampler of some sort?

I was looking at clever poppy and I see they have mixed reviews, thoughts?

Advice for life with a soft collar?

Hi all.

My c6-c7 disc replacement is 6/23, and I'm a little worried about life with a soft collar. Not bending my neck will be hard, and I usually sleep on my side curled in a ball, so that worries me too.

How did you make it through this time, and how long did you have to wear it? Any advice?

Additionally I'm hypermobile and worry about accidentally over extending myself

C6-C7 disc arthroplasty/replacement must haves?

Hi all.

I'm scheduled June 23 for another attempt at a c6-c7 disc replacement after my 1st one was aborted over a year ago after they couldn't move my carotid out of the way. The theory is scar tissue made that hard, but another surgeon saw how badly I was declining and decided he'd try.

What are your post-surgery must haves?

Do shirts etc have that weird, thick screen printed feel?

Hi all.

I don't have a cricut, but I do have a question about shirts etc that you apply decals(?) and designs to!

I'm in a roller derby league and want some shirts etc with my name and number on it. But I really dislike how some concert tees will feel like a heavy, thick block of material where the design is.

Do decals or designs made with cricut also have this sort of feel to it? Is this the right medium to do what I'm looking for?

Thanks for any input and advice you have!

Penalty box timer apps for android?

A friend of mine uses an app for scrimmages where you can have multiple timers going and even color code em. They count down which I really like, and I'm pretty sure they programmed it to give 10 second warning too.

Unfortunately the app they use is only iPhone compatible and I have an android. Help!

Hi all. I'm looking for butt pads, because my tailbone is still healing from a week or so ago when I fell on it at my first practice. I saw other threads but they're outdated or not from my country

Suggestions welcome! My ideal criteria:

  • USA specific products
  • Lower cost is better (student budget)
  • Machine washable preferred/removable pads?

I'm only 5ft 2in, but I have a bit of a booty that I'd like to protect.

Thanks!

I'm in seminary AND allergic to cats, so I think those are my biggest factors causing people to swipe no factors. I get that people in our community have a bad history with religion and I definitely did too! I'm not here to tell people what to believe, I would never.

I want to be a pediatric chaplain and support children and their families (of all faiths, or no particular faith) through some of their worst times in life.

So any tips on how to improve my profile would be super helpful!
