Half the Speed of Sound - Fear of Falling (Music Video)

Helloooooooo beautiful people

On Friday, I release my first album under the name Half the Speed of Sound. It's dark, it's very very slow, lots of reversed samples and something, that smells a little like trip hop but god knows what it actually looks like.

Here is the music video for the single from the album. The video was created by Anton Falez (u/Lezarath)

Hope you like it

See you on the 23rd

Peace, love and whatever the hell this genre is.

Candlewax - Subvert is Live

Hey peeps

Finally got round to sorting out my subvert and uploading what I believe really should represent Candlewax.

Reason for the message is ive added a subvert edition of my last remix LP which contains the original 12 tracks, plus the 4 from the associated single that is only $5 for subvert members. No idea what that equates to in your chosen Earth Currency but its there anyway.

How are people viewing this Sub?

Hey peeps

I notice that some of the posts get considerably less attention than others and some that give a fair bit In the beginning, get more and more as the days go by.

With this in mind it's got me wondering how some of this wonderful community filters the content? I suspect a lot of people have it filtered by 'Most Popular' or whatever it's referred to as in Reddit.

I have this sub filtered by 'Newest' so that I don't miss a single thing and I always see posts in order from newest to oldest.

If you don't have it filtered by Newest, I strongly recommend it is as every single post in here has value and massively contrutes to this community.

newlow - La Peste - Review

There is a consistent sense of liberation in the music of newlow. On May 6th, that spirit of creative freedom was further realized with the release of La Peste. As an adventurous exploration into the mind of a truly experimental artist, this album is a beautifully balanced collection that flows from track to track and genre to genre with remarkable ease.

This project represents newlow’s most accomplished production to date. Each mix is perfectly balanced and the mastering is handled with great care. The journey begins with "Eater," which introduces a layer of dark, atmosphere before transitioning into a mellow breakbeat rhythm. From this point, the record truly opens up. "Matrik" follows a few tracks later with a perfect combination of piano and percussion that shifts the genre once again. By the time "Wow Nothing" begins, the music evokes the sensation of sinking into a comfortable chair to watch the world drift by. The album continues to lead the listener down various sonic rabbit holes, eventually bringing the experience to a perfect conclusion with "Rounders."

La Peste is an exceptional piece of work. While Go Tell Hell was a good introduction and The Fall was a significant step forward, this latest release elevates the artistry of newlow to a new level. It is a sophisticated and near-perfect presentation of his unique sound. Maybe we should refer to Robin as newhigh from now on.

Hello Rockers, Trip Hoppers and everybody all around the woooooooooooorld.

Move in and move...... Sorry, my youth got carried away there.

Beat tape update time!

We now have 42 songs by 21 artists please an Intro for side A from Big Sorcery and an intro for side B from Mokka Monkey.

We now need this time to move Into the next phase of this tape which is ordering it and volume mastering. As you can imagine, even though it's volume mastering, managing 44 individual tracks will take a while and with a release date of 5th June, we need as much time as possible. This is why yesterday was the last date for submission.

Further, the image attached is the first draft of the artwork for the Beat Tape which following the naming of our first community tape will be called Beat Tapes Aren't Dead Vol. 1.

The charity all sales will be donated to will remain Doctors Without Borders due to its unanimous vote before our first tape.

Thank you all for the bangers. We will now get this cooking for release!

Peace, love and Trip Hop

Released on April 7th, this new EP from Mr. Mighty hits with an immediate impact. If you are simply looking for background music, you should prepare for a surprise. This project lands with the force of a classic Boom-Bap record, delivering a level of energy that demands your full attention from the very first beat.

The opener, "Kidnap the Bagman," is arguably the funkiest track you will hear all year. The song is relentless, consistently evolving, and delivering quality throughout its runtime. The horn sample choices are superb, and the track is presented with a pristine polish. From there, the EP maintains a consistent scene, anchored by percussion work that feels tailor-made for any fan of tight, driving beats.

Moving into "Thinking Forward," the production oozes the distinct flavor of The Herbaliser and Soul Position. Mr. Mighty demonstrates excellent control over the song dynamics here. As the artist has noted, this record leans more heavily into Hip Hop beats than his usual output, and it is a creative pivot that is incredibly welcome. More of this, please.

The EP closes with "Stroke of Luck." It features a classic, infectious staccato flute hook and a bassline so dirty that Cypress Hill in their 1st and 2nd album era would be rightfully envious of. It is a brilliant way to wrap up the project.

Ultimately, this EP is a delicious slice of Boom, complete with a Hot Drip of your favorite sauce (not brown sauce though, brown sauce is for psychipaths). In a satisfying, maybe even slightly toasted Bap that is a delicious experience from start to finish.
