How much does M.2 as C drive vs. SSD as D drive matter when loading games?

Games are so big these days I can barely fit the 3 games I want to play on my M.2 drive. Is there a huge hit to load times or something else if I leave a game like Forza on my D drive?

My m.2 drive is SHPP41-1000GM about 2-3 years old. My regular D drive is ssd is Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB, I think it’s probably 5-6 years old at this point.

Peak parenting

You know you’ve hit peak parenting when you’re playing the Elmo playlist to get your baby to calm down/sleep on the way home and find yourself skipping the songs you don’t like

Disclosure, doomsday claims and extravagant expectations

I do believe that there is something going on. Some other life forms zipping around earth checking us out. Making drones in the ocean etc… all of it could be true.

But if there was something REALLY significant I feel like the world governments would be acting much differently. Right now the people who should know what’s going on are running the world as if they have no knowledge that any of this is real. Fighting wars, arguing about trade etc… if we were facing a real threat I imagine the world superpowers would start planning on how to combat it together. Then once it’s neutralized we can go back to killing each other.

I think what’s likely is that they are afraid that full disclosure will cause mass chaos because much of the world (including government officials who have knowledge of these extraterrestrials) are religious. So they are leaking out disclosure very slowly and carefully. Pretending they know nothing more than we do.

But eventually they’ll start revealing most of what they know and it will be something along the lines of. Yes everything you’ve heard is true. They are much more advanced than us and have chosen to just observe and experiment with/on us for now because we’re not a threat. They’ve made it clear they let us fight our own fights and won’t intervene unless we start fucking around with nukes again. They’re not going to kill us or hurt us as long as we don’t pose a threat to them.

However… they may deliberately sabotage our advancement of technology because they don’t want us to get to their level because then we might go to war with them. So they would be forced to obliterate us before we get to the point where we could harm them. E.g. disappearing a bunch of scientists working on warp drives.

What might be really scary is not the fact that these beings exist but rather what knowledge they hold about the universe. Like that they’ve definitely proved we are living in a simulation. Now everyone is going to question everything and we will have crazy chaos more so than the presence of another species.

But in any of these disclosures eventually people will accept what they can’t change and just go back to normal life. I believe those in the know have accepted what they know and accepted they can’t change it so they are living life the way they normally would.

So I don’t think Luis Elizando’s doomsday post has any merit or else those in the know would be doing everything to change it, not squabbling over the BS we do now.

I felt guilty upgrading my graphics card

First PC I built was in college. I went for broke and got a gtx 1080 and it has been amazing since then. I’ve been running three 1080p monitors for a long time for gaming and work and I never had any issues.

One day I was feeling kind of sad. I knew I was getting a decent bonus soon so I decided to think about getting myself a present. I considered going on a long weekend trip because “experiences”. But then for some reason the thought of upgrading my rig popped into my head. I had upgraded the ram, mobo and cpu a few years back so those were fine, it was really just the card. Which of course meant an upgrade to a 1000w psu and a new monitor to take advantage of it. My main justification was playing GTA 6 when it comes out.

I did some research, learned about 32 inch 4k 240hz gaming could be a huge upgrade to what I have now. So I went for broke, got the monitor (MSI), psu and an RTX 5080. Installing it + bios updates and settings was unnecessarily difficult, don’t ask me why. Taking out my 1080 was emotional. It has served me faithfully running most games on full specs since 2016 including Baldurs gate 3. I felt guilty because the mobo, cpu, ram I definitely needed at the time but the card I didn’t need an upgrade, nothing was broken it was “just cause”.

I had played through some of cyberpunk 2077 on ps5 a while back but then life caught up with me and I had to stop. Obviously that game is the poster child for high end graphics so I picked it up for pc.

Now I’m starting to feel better. The immersion and detail of playing on screen that is so much closer and so vibrant reminded me why I fell in love with pc gaming in the first place. Once upon a time I got lazy and thought I should be able to play on a couch, but I always accepted FPS on a controller was substandard. Now I’ve been reminded that the entire experience on a console is substandard if you’re willing to drop your whole bonus on a high end rig.

I’m still sad about my 1080, but I’m starting to appreciate what I have now. I’m gonna keep her around and maybe build another rig for my kids one day. Hopefully motherboards at that time will still be compatible with this generation of cards. Cause when they’re young I have far too many amazing games on steam that don’t require anything more than a 1080 to run on full settings.

Grateful for what I had, grateful for what I have now. May she rest in peace… for a time 😁

Edit: I screwed up my years

From what I’m reading you still need a photon test is limited by light speed to reconstruct the quantum information that is sent. So… why don’t we just send the information in the photons? Is it a storage thing? Much more information transferred via the teleportation method in the same amount of time?
