**1. Personal Use is NOT an Excuse Anymore!!!**

In many Western countries, importing a few replica items for "personal use" is often overlooked or results in a simple seizure notice. This is no longer true in Japan.

・The 2022 Trademark Law Amendment: Since October 2022, Japanese law treats *all* counterfeit goods imported from overseas as illegal, **even if they are strictly for personal use**.

・If Japanese Customs (Zeikan) detects a replica item, they have the legal right to seize it immediately. You cannot argue that it is just for you.

**2. Japanese Customs (税関) and Risk Mitigation!**
Japanese customs hubs (especially Tokyo/Narita and Osaka/Kansai) are incredibly efficient and use advanced screening.

→What Happens if Your Package is Flagged?

・If they suspect replicas, you will receive a scary-looking letter called a\*\*"Notification of Procedures for Determining Intellectual Property Infringement" (which is 認定手続通知書 in JP)\*\*.

・Do not panic, but do not ignore it. You usually have two choices: abandon the goods (let them destroy it) or contest it (which you will lose if it’s a replica).

・Most experienced rep buyers in Japan agree that if a package is seized, you should forfeit the goods (abandon them) and take the financial loss. Do not fight it, as it draws unnecessary legal attention to your name and address.

**-How to reduce the risk of getting seized...**

・Keep Hauls Smaller!! Never ship a massive 10kg+ box to Japan!!! Split your items into smaller packages around **3kg to 9kg max**(my one was seized when I packed 11kg).

・Do Not Mix Too Many High-End Brands! Shipping a box containing Lv, D10r and R0lex all at once is a massive red flag. Mix them with unbranded or low-key items.

・Ship Without Boxes!!!! Ask your agent to discard shoeboxes and luxury packaging. Ship items tags-removed and vacuum-sealed if possible. It looks less like commercial importing.

・Delare lower!! Your amount of declaring should be very small, in comparison to shipping to US or Canada. I usually declare 2$ for accessory(Including Bags), 2 for tees, 3 for pants, 5 for Shoes! Shipping to Japan needs really low amount of declaration!

**3. WILDEST WAY(I don't recommend really)**
If you are visiting Japan and hope to find replica street markets like those in Thailand or China,

・They are hidden in the streets, openly selling replicas in physical stores is heavily raided by the police. In Harajuku, you can find some American man standing on the side of the road. You can talk to them to go inside the shop and buy the products, but I don't really reccomend...
**Because it's a scammer!!!** Any store in tourist areas claiming to sell "deadstock Sups" or "cheap 0ff wh1te" for cash-only prices is likely selling bottom-tier, low-quality replicas at massive markups, by experienced ppl. So I don't really buy reps physically in Japan, but the atmospheres are kinda fun so u can go visit.

I'm from Japan, 2nd time posting on the sub, and here, a standard bag of chips (like Calbee) is usually around 60g to 80g (about 2 to 3 ounces). It's designed for one person to finish in one sitting.
Whenever I see American or European grocery stores in videos, the chip bags look like the size of a pillow! Are these meant for entire families, or do people actually sit down and eat a 300g+ bag of Lays by themselves? Also, how do you keep them crispy if you don't finish them? I'm genuinely curious.
