I messaged him. He shared me pics. I decided to visit tomorrow. He then called me to say to create visiting card, he needs 2k rs. A guy called Akshay Arora.

Am I being scammed? or does DLF New town heights require 2k as refundable deposit to issue visiting card?

I am very suspicious.

Just wrapped up a week-long Sikkim trip and thought I'd share my experience for anyone planning their first visit.

Trip structure and Itinerary:

• 4 nights in Gangtok
• 3 nights in Pelling
• Flew in and out of Bagdogra

I deliberately skipped North Sikkim this time because I didn't want to spend days in a vehicle and wanted a more relaxed trip.

I flew to Bagdora and took a Wizz prebooked shared cab. It was very cheap. 1500 rs for the 5-6 hour journey to Gangtok and only one another passenger was there. Very proffessional service. Highly recommneded. They give snacks as well.

Gangtok

Gangtok turned out to be a great base. MG Marg is genuinely pleasant in the evenings—clean, walkable, and full of cafes and shops.

Places I visited:

• Tsomgo Lake
• Nathu La Pass
• Baba Mandir
• Tashi View Point
• Ganesh Tok
• Hanuman Tok
• Flower Exhibition Centre
• Ridge Park
• Rumtek Monastery
• Banjhakri Falls
• Lacha Falls
• Gangtok Ropeway

Highlights: Nathu La and Tsomgo Lake. Standing at the border was a unique experience, and the drive itself was spectacular.

Pelling

Moved to Pelling for the second half of the trip.

Places I visited:

• Chenrezig Statue
• Glass Skywalk
• Pemayangtse Monastery
• Rabdentse Ruins
• Kanchenjunga Falls
• Rimbi Waterfalls
• Pelling Ropeway

Highlights: The Chenrezig Statue and Skywalk exceeded my expectations. Rabdentse Ruins were surprisingly interesting too, especially with the views and the walk through the forest.

What I liked

• Roads were generally in decent condition considering the terrain.
• Locals were friendly and helpful.
• Weather in June was pleasant.
• The monasteries felt peaceful and weren't overly commercialized.
• Plenty of mountain views whenever the clouds cooperated.

What I didn't do

• North Sikkim (Lachen/Lachung/Gurudongmar/Yumthang)
• Ravangla/Namchi in South Sikkim

In Gangtok, I stayed at Summit Ttakshang Residency Hotel & Spa - MG Marg.
The pictures promised me amazing mountain view, but my deluxe room window opened up into the back of another building. Not even sunlight could get in. Complained and they acknowledged that it was bulk upload and not to reality. Another customer also had to same issue. Finally they upgraded me to a room with sky view, but nothing like in the pictures. Will not recommend these folks at all. Reviews and pictures are misleading.

In Pelling, I stayed at Voyage The Aryan Regency. This was very nice with nice views and all. Highly recommend. Will recommend.

In total I spent close to 80k without flights included. I am on the expensive side as I work nights and wanted a good room where I could work out of and internet connection.

Gangtok is walkable if you are fit. Everything is hills. Sikkim is a very beautful place. Just avoid crowds and find your sollace.
