Even if we get real digital ownership laws, killing physical still screws consumers
I get why people claim that digital is the future and I myself am basically forced into buying digital only since I only have a PC and physical media for PC basically died after 2012, but owning a disc doesn't magically mean you truly own the game because of EULAs, patches, servers, etc.
The real fix is better consumer protection laws like how Asmongold claims. Sony dropping physical in 2028 makes business sense. But here's the part I'm worried about:
Even if we somehow get perfect digital ownership (you can really own and transfer your games), going full digital-only still hurts us bad on pricing. Right now with physical you can buy a game new from different stores that compete on price, and more importantly, the used market lets people grab physical copies way cheaper after launch (like $30-40 instead of $70).
If physical dies, Sony controls the only way to buy new PS exclusives... their store. They can keep prices high forever because there's no used market to compete with them. No more cheap second-hand copies for people who don't want to pay full price.
For single-player games, physical also gives you a practical fallback, you can just stay offline and not update if Sony tries some bullshit later but this is a difficult topic because some games have built in DRM so its pretty complicated topic to talk about. Digital doesn't give you that same independence. I agree convenience is king for a lot of people, but losing physical completely feels like it gives Sony (and other publishers) too much control long-term over prices.
Obviously physical media is slowly fading away because digital media is much more convenient more, but if it truly dies, and the future is digitally only, Sony has complete control over the prices and we all know Sony ain't so nice so this ends up hurting consumers in the future.
I wish people would speak more on this topic, because most people can agree that we need laws to be put in place to truly own our physical and digital games, thats for damn sure, but if the future is digital only, it hurts consumers in the end if Sony has full control over prices and same goes for other stores as well.
If only there was a place where I could buy and own my PC games
Yall know what to do guys. Go share some love ❤️
I'm glad more creators are finding out about THE FINALS. The game needs more coverage than anything
Maximillian's opinion on Playstation killing off physically games
Well physical media is officially killed off by Playstation
It actually makes sense now why Rockstar made GTA 6 only digital, Sony must've informed them beforehand. This just sucks...
No one is surviving in the new Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 anime I can already tell😭
I think the Steam Page for the game needs a rework/update
Most of the pictures shown don't encapsulate any of the amazing destruction of the game which is the main selling point of the game and just looking at the screenshots its not also very clear what the gameplay looks like.
I just believe they should update it so its more cohearent on what makes THE FINALS stand out compared to literally every other FPS because looking at these screenshots its pretty hard to tell what separates the game from other games.
Screenshots on a steam store front sell a game more than anything and I think they should actually showcase the amazing destruction and what makes the game amazing in the steam screenshots.
It wouldn't hurt to experiment and change it up a bit
Asmongold needs to play this masterpiece
Yes this is a very long game but I think he will really enjoy this game especially since its pretty simple in terms of gameplay.
Comparison between the most popular Graphics Mod (No Reshade Effects)
I didn't want to use any reshade effects, only graphical mods that alter the existing shadowmaps and files. All of them besides one of them were made from Fromsoftserve, but they vary in quality and personal preference.
I personally like Embers the most, it doesn't make the image so dark while still retaining some of the original atmosphere
Jason the main character throughout GTA 6's development
Its actually insane how Rockstar is going surpassing RDR2's gorgeous graphics
Almost 3 years later, Lies of P Seamless Coop Mod finally released!
The developers of the mod really worked so hard and it finally released today!
