Bruxism, help please

Here is my timeline and situation:

  • Background: I have never suffered from bruxism, teeth grinding, or jaw clenching in my life.
  • The Trigger: I was prescribed Escitalopram (Lexapro/Cipralex) not for depression, but to manage neuropathic pain.
  • Duration: I only took the medication for 4 days before stopping it.
  • The Current Issue: Immediately after starting it, I developed severe nocturnal bruxism. It has now been 22 days since my last dose, and the sleep bruxism has not stopped.

I know that Escitalopram leaves the body within a week, so the drug itself is completely gone. However, it seems like those 4 days were enough to trigger some sort of neurological loop or muscle spasm memory in my jaw?

Has anyone experienced SSRI-induced bruxism that persisted weeks after stopping the medication, even after a very short course? How long did it take for your brain/muscles to reset? Did you have to use muscle relaxants, buspirone, or physical therapy to break the cycle?

Any advice on how to "turn off" this involuntary muscle reflex would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Escrevo prosa e peosia mas não sei por onde comecar apresentar os meus textos.

A morte permanece oculta,

o amor, um segredo eterno.

a beleza está em nunca saber,
em sentir o encanto
do desconhecido.

não é dúvida,

nem desespero —

é o fim do ontem

e o mistério do amanhã.

viver com a morte

é aprender a viver com amor,

dançar entre o fim e o início,

o amor é um enigma,

tão estranho quanto a própria morte.

 no mistério de ambos

aprendemos

a arte de viver.

31M – Enlarged urethral meatus, burning, and urinary symptoms for almost 1 year

I am a 31-year-old male. For almost a year, I have noticed that the skin around my urethral opening (meatus) appears enlarged or swollen compared to how I remember it before. I cannot say with absolute certainty when it started, but I do not think it used to look like this.

My symptoms include:

  • Burning sensation at the tip of the penis.
  • Discomfort when the tip rubs against my underwear.
  • Occasional redness around the meatus.
  • The tissue around the meatus looks thicker or more voluminous than before.
  • Urine flow does not feel as smooth as it used to.
  • Mild burning during urination.

I also used a betamethasone cream on my legs some time ago and I am wondering whether that could somehow have contributed to these symptoms, although I never intentionally applied it to the meatus itself.

Is it possible that betamethasone could cause permanent changes to the appearance of the meatus? If so, is there anything that can be done to reverse it?

I would appreciate any advice on possible causes and what kind of tests or specialist evaluation I should seek.
