I've been working on this game solo for some time now. It's called Desperatuma text-based, tactical turn-based dungeon crawler CRPG.

The whole system is heavily inspired by A Fortaleza de Berdolok, a Brazilian tabletop RPG from the 90s, and others CRPG like Eye of the beholder. It had this really tense dice-rolling combat and brutal resource management that I'm trying to translate into a digital roguelite experience.

I'm particularly wondering:

  • Does the dice-rolling combat feel like it could work in a CRPG, or is it too RNG-dependent?
  • Any classic dungeon crawler features you feel are missing from this kind of text-based approach?

The demo is available here.

After months, I finally published my first game on Itch. 18 views in an hour, and I'm already thrilled!

I used to only get two or three views from my friends testing the game, but now I have 18! And I posted it an hour ago.

Mom, I'm famous!

The Darkness Has Finally Come - DESPERATUM

First and foremost, I want to give a huge shoutout to Vermis and this incredible community for inspiring me with so much stunning art and creativity.

I'm thrilled to finally announce that the DEMO for my game is now available for anyone who wants to give it a try! You can play it right here.

DESPERATUM is a text-based, tactical turn-based RPG with roguelite progression elements, it is heavily inspired by classic dungeon crawlers like Eye of the Beholder. Every choice, rune, and item matters as you descend deeper into the darkness.

As a solo developer, I'd really appreciate your feedback, bug reports, and suggestions. Every bit of input helps me make the game better!

Have fun, stay sharp, and beware the darkness...

PS: English is not my native language, so if you find any spelling mistakes in the game, please report them. I truly appreciate the help!

Control / UI in Godot is awesome!

I made the switch from Unity to Godot and working with UI is just so intuitive and easy! In Unity it was a headache, God bless the Control Node.

I also used Dialogic 2 for the dialogues, and it's simply one of the best dialogue addons!

These are screenshots from a project I started recently, an RPG based on old CRPGs from the 80s/90s
