how many vaccines at once is too many?
hey all, so i (20f), am looking at getting vaccinated in january at my next scheduled appointment. my boyfriend, who i’ve been with for 3 years now, told me last night that me getting vaccinated is basically a non-negotiable for our relationship and he won’t get engaged to me until im up to date with everything (which i told him i understood and would do). im currently really sick with a major cough, pressure headaches, congestion etc; and that’s kind of how this all came up. i have not had a vaccine in probably close to 5-10 years, and am overdue on a bunch.
my family was very anti-vax for COVID, and my mom refused to let me get the flu vaccine, HPV booster, etc after i think my last shot set of tetanus/HPV in 2016-2017 when i was 10-11. the four he would like for me to get is my HPV booster (that was due in 2021), a tetanus shot renewal (that’s been due since last year, my flu vaccine (that shows i should’ve gotten it last month), and my meningitis booster (which was due in 2022 as i got the base shot at 11 but not the booster at 16).
now a little about me, medical needles are my sworn enemy. during dental procedures, i’ve literally been strapped down by multiple hygienists getting novocain, i’ve only gotten bloodwork twice in my life which was literally in january of this year, and again, no shots since 2016-2017. i’d like to knock all four shots out in one sitting, but im not sure if that’s too much or not at the time of the appointment.
so that’s my question, would four shots at once be too many? my boyfriend said he’s gotten five at once before, but i don’t know enough about vaccines in general to think if that’s safe or not. since 2016, my family very anti-vax, and my mom has told me if she could go back in time so she wouldn’t make me get the vaccines at all, she would’ve. i still live at home so i feel like if i get vaccinated under their roof and insurance that it’s basically the end of the world if they find out, so i may just save this until i can move out, but im gonna really try and push to get it done in january. any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated. thanks for reading!
EDIT: i’m making this edit a couple hours after i posted this. i just want to thank everyone for helping me open my eyes even further to the fact this is something that i need done asap, and especially the flu shot it can’t wait until january. i know ive been getting bashed in the comments for the beliefs my parents put me under, and the more i’ve grown as an adult, the more ive understood how much my family has messed me up since i was a teenager. the conversation between me and my boyfriend alone opened my eyes last night, but you guys helped me more, even if the people that say i still have those beliefs won’t believe me. i just wanna say that ive never truly fallen for their system, that complied to make peace. but i know my body, and its my choice what i get done with it. i want to help everyone including my boyfriend and i in staying happy and healthy and live a longer life. i’m currently making myself a cup of tea and then i will sit down to see flu shot pricing at pharmacies around me so i can get vaccinated for that asap once i feel better from my current sickness :)
