Day 1 Killswitch Review
I LOVE the Nintendo Switch 2, however playing it handheld our the box gave me the absolute worst cramps after a few minutes as I have large hands. For me the absolute most comfortable handheld is the Steam Deck, it just perfectly fits my hands out the box. The Switch 2 Pro Controller is perfect though, arguably the very best controller I’ve ever used. After a lot of research I finally pulled the trigger on the Killswitch after I saw it at Best Buy this morning.
Went home, had a super easy installation and I have to say that this will absolutely change the way I play my Switch 2. While still a bit smaller than the Steam Deck, the grips on this thing are top notch, very comfortable, feel solid, and the stick covers feel great as well. It’s not the Pro Controller, but for handheld it is a much needed upgrade. I actually love that the dock makes the console feel like a Wii U went charging it now 😅
I have a few work trips next month, and will absolutely be taking this with me and the travel cover inside my backpack. I will give an updated review down the line.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter [90 Metacritic/Opencritic score] is -50% off in the Nintendo eShop (Worldwide)
Is it possible to skip/disable the Home screen when exiting Sleep Mode?
Just seems like an unnecessary extra step to me.
Which games should get a Switch 2 Edition next?
I think these games also deserve a Switch 2 Edition or at least a Free Update:
- Pikmin 4
- Paper Mario TTYD
- Mario & Luigi Brothership
- Metroid Prime Remastered
- Metroid Dread
- Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity
- Zelda Skyward Sword HD
- Bayonetta 3
Just finished ff7 remake on switch 2
I have never played the og but I want to say it's an amazing game. Incredible graphics, fantastic story that draws you in. I would give it 10 out of 10 but I genuinely think it drags. Too many times you are in an overlong fight that begins to chip away at the quality of the game. Like the lab in chapter 17 or going to the sewers a few times over. Often these padded out bits interfere with a moment in the story. And the side missions are terrible.
But I thoroughly enjoyed. Does rebirth improve on any of the issues I had?
How much you paid for Mario Kart World?

Theres so much discussion about the cost of the (for now) only 80$ game on switch 2 that i am curious, how much you got it for? (Considering i havent found reliable data on how much the game sold on bundles vs stand alone)
80$ (or full price)? You got it in the bundle? (50$ in north america regions) even less (some kind of sale or deal)?
Are there any joy cons that mimic the feel of the Steam Deck and its sticks/triggers the best?
I love my switch 2 docked with a pro controller or 8bitdo, but lately I’ve been unable to play it that way and have tried to resort to handheld but it’s kind of uncomfortable and basically has me not wanting to touch it at all.
I have a steam deck which I consider to have the best ergonomics of any handheld I’ve owned/tried for my hands specifically, so I’m curious if any 3rd party joy cons have been able to come close to that feel for anyone else?
I thought simply getting different grips would help, so I bought the JSAUX split protective case & grips, but that’s how I realized I really didn’t like the sticks or triggers either.
Curious what other people have tried and enjoyed!
Resident Evil games playing order
So I have never played a single Resident Evil game, I recently got 7, 8 and 9 as a gift, and already had 4 in my backlog, which would be a logical order to play these?
It’s my understanding that 7 and 8 are an unrelated story to the games where Leon is the protagonist so I was thinking of playing 4 and 9 first and then 7 & 8
Also, I wasn’t considering 5 and 6 due to the more action focused gameplay and less than optimal reviews, but let me know if I could be missing out!
DMC 5 vs Yakuza 0
Trying to decide between these 2, price is NOT a factor. I’m into both action and fighting games so it’s hard to decide!
For those that’ve played both, what did you prefer?
It's been 13 months since Nintendo Switch 2 came out and afaik there haven't been any confirmed cases of joy con drift.
Props to Nintendo, it seems they actually got it right this time
Finally Completed Metroid Prime 4, some thoughts as a newcomer
I know I’m a bit late to the party with this game.
Just some context to begin with, I’m pretty much a Metroid beginner here. The only Metroid game I played through before was Metroid Zero Mission on the GBA. I also played some Prime Remastered but kept getting lost and confused what to do/where to go etc.
Metroid Prime 4 is far from perfect but I think it’s a good beginners entry into the prime series.
There’s a weird dichotomy about this game where it feels incredibly polished (amazing graphics, controls, performance etc) but the overall game seems unfinished or extremely rushed. This is one of the most graphically unique and beautiful games I’ve seen period. One pet peeve is Samus looks so cool in this game I wish it had a third person view sometimes.
The game does have quite a few high moments, the bosses were fun. The desert is tedious.
The quality of this game is very front loaded, first few areas were good but gradually the game kept getting worse and more tedious. Story was basically non existent imo.
I still overall enjoyed my time with this game and I am going to try playing through Metroid Prime Remastered now.
Why doesn't The Show 26 have a Switch 2 version?
I already have The Show 26 on my Series X, love it great game. Seen it on sale for my Switch 2, thought it would be cool to play while watching TV or whatever in handheld mode. Only to find out after purchasing it's only the Switch 1 edition. It plays alright enough, but my god it looks like complete shit. Any reason why a Switch 2 edition doesn't exist?
Nintendo Shares Message To Fans After Being Voted Favorite Developer In Famitsu
Famitsu (Japanese gaming magazine) recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and as part of the occasion they held a survey. After Nintendo won the favorite developer category, they shared the following message which has been translated by Nintendo Everything:
"Thank you for choosing Nintendo as the No. 1 “Game Developer I Like”. We are also extremely happy that Mario and The Legend of Zelda have been received favorably. Ever since the Famicom (NES) was released in 1983, we have created chances for many to give video games a try, and we are grateful to Famitsu for keeping customers excited and supporting us across those 40 years.
During these 40 years, technology related to game development has evolved, and the environment has changed as well, but we have continued to keep “originality” as our central theme, going through trial and error and learning many things while creating entertainment with the goal of putting smiles on customers’ faces. If this 40-year-long path has become a part of everyone’s memories, there is nothing that would make us happier. Nintendo will continue to challenge various things, aiming for unique entertainment that only we could produce, and work hard towards that goal. We shall continue to be in your care from now on.
Finally, in celebration of 40 years of Famitsu, we hope to continue developing a mutually beneficial partnership in keeping the gaming industry lively."
The Nintendo Switch 2 looks like a way better bargain after you scroll to the second image
Another game that's actually not very well known in its Switch 2 version: SnowRunner
i really love to play it !
How I feel watching all the recent gaming news - except it really, really, genuinely is kind of fine
Reading all the news about Sony, Microsoft, the Steam Machine, GTA VI, AI usage, Ubisoft etc, it can easily feel like the whole games industry's falling in around you.
Except...it's not.
I have a Switch 2 and...things genuinely are kind of fine. Not perfect, but pretty good. I got FFVII Rebirth last month and it's great. I'll probably finish it not long before a complete version of Elden Ring drops (with maybe a little intermission for Star Fox). I already have a wishlist of like 30 games. Ocarina of Time's coming later this year. For all the jokes and teeth gnashing, there will be a new 3D Mario etc eventually.
And the Switch is still only at the very beginning of its journey. I reckon I'm going to be playing this thing until the early 2030s at least. So while I don't like a lot of the news from recent days (and I absolutely do have sympathy for people losing their jobs), none of it really affects me personally as a Switch 2 gamer.
Basically, I feel like this image - the house is on fire and I'm sitting there racing Chocobos confident that even if the roof does fall in, it's going to miss me completely.
It finally came.
Never thought I'd buy a console with my own money.
Starfox Adventures & Assault - when are these coming to NSO?
After playing the recent remake and enjoying it more than I thought, I really hope these two GameCube games are heading to Nintendo Switch Online sooner rather than later.
I know at least Adventures got briefly shown in the reveal for the new game, but shockingly there was no announcement of making it playable. There's no rights issues with these games, correct? I feel now would be the perfect time to launch them and capitalize on the newfound hype for the series.
