a compilation of all the hacks that hold my life together

  1. I pretend like I've lost control over my body, reduces mental chatter and negotiating myself out of a task (idea courtesy of pornhub)
  2. I set alarms for EVERYTHING, I have about 40 alarms a day.
  3. I change into my gym outfit before leaving the office so I can get home, dump my bag, grab my shoes and go, not fall victim to the sit pit
  4. I tell people I'm doing something and that they should ask me in 2 days to see how it's going, public accountability
  5. Same thing as the last one, I post pictures of everything I'm doing on social media
  6. None of my meals take longer than 5 mins to put together, and minimal dirty dishes
  7. I have 5 pants, 5 shirts, I wear them in rotation, over and over again for 2 years and them replace them w the exact same
  8. I have one pair of shoes for non gym stuff, one for gym stuff, one for running, one pair of dressy heels, all in black because they go w everything
  9. I only have 7 pairs of socks and would never rewear so forced to do laundry once a week
  10. I have a designated spot for every thing in my room and house
  11. I went and got a full time job even though I have a startup because a wholly unstructured day where I'm not accountable to anyone was a recipe for disaster, I was working till 3 am, doomscrolling then some, and waking up at 2 pm, it was fucking absurd, being forced to sit at a desk mentally sharp early in the morning made me pull it together, I don't plan on quitting until I have a few employees, at this stage I'm still a solopreneur
  12. I listen to a 10 hour loop of David Goggins on Spotify to shame myself out of inaction
  13. I don't fold laundry, everything (including t shirts) just goes on hangers, socks and underwear stuffed in a basket, pair of socks stuffed into each other

  2. I set alarms for EVERYTHING, I have about 40 alarms a day. I pair my mental needs with habits I already have. Like, if I drink a glass of water in the morning, that automatically means I do a 10 minute morning walk. I don't negotiate with myself about whether I'm "in the mood". One habit triggers the other. I also use Soothfy App because it really helps me figure out what my brain needs and turn that into something practical I can actually do. That's how I make habits work with my ADHD brain.
  3. I change into my gym outfit before leaving the office so I can get home, dump my bag, grab my shoes and go, not fall victim to the sit pit

let's share our depression hacks that no one ever talks about

  1. depressed in bed: i just switched onto the other side of the bed (head is where feet normally are.)I'm still depressed, but it's a hack and I feel *different* at the very least.
  2. sit up. I'm not going for a brisk walk. Rome wasn't built in a day. I can be slouchy and just pay attention to a few breaths, and then lie back down and feel like crap upside down.
  3. change clothes. showering isn't happening any time either, but just changing my clothes and underwear again, is at least *a change* and again, I can lie down and feel like crap in bed and now maybe even sit up on my computer and express myself in some way to the world (this).
  4. open the blinds. that's all. nothing made of it, just something to do that makes things different.
  5. reach out in a smart way: if I'm still in here in a little while, I can text my mom saying that I am just busy and need some quiet and alone time and that I'm not isolating.
  6. share: just sharing this, reaching out... first of all I'm expressing in a safe way (safer than if I were to try to go out and talk to my family about why the universe will never care whether or not I went for a walk today) what's going on with me in the present moment, and so it's less of a burden on ME. It's shared and I'm at least believing that someone is out there reading. If someone is, and it helps, and they want to help too, and maybe it takes hours... but relating with those who really understand helps. If I share something that is helpful, too, I'll feel a little bit more self-esteem and self-worth.

0 Years anxiety : 10 Hard Won- lessons.

  1. Sleep comes first.

If your sleep schedule is trash, your anxiety is going to be ten times worse. Fix your sleep before you try to fix anything else.

  1. Overthinking isn't helping.

Running worst-case scenarios in your head isn't "preparing." It’s just torture. You’re not solving anything, you’re just exhausting yourself.

  1. Routine saves you from brain fog.

When your mind is chaotic, having a set daily discipline keeps you grounded. Structure stops your brain from spiraling.

  1. You have to take charge of your own healing.

No one is coming to fix this for you. Read, research, experiment, and figure out what actually works for your mind and body.

  1. It’s a trick your brain is playing, not reality.

Anxiety feels 100% real, but thoughts aren't facts. Just because your brain signals danger doesn't mean you're actually in danger.

  1. Whatever story you feed your mind becomes your life.

If you keep telling yourself "I can't do this," your brain believes it. You have to actively change the program you're running.

  1. Look around why you only feel anxious

Think why you only are feeling those thoughts palpitations etc. why it isn't happening to your family or friends, it's your thinking making it worse.

  1. Fear eats you up quietly.

If you let fear make your decisions, it slowly shrinks your life from the inside out before you even notice.

  1. Your health is priority #1.

It’s tough to maintain when you’re struggling, but there’s no way around it. Bad physical health = a much harder fight with your mind.

  1. Never trust a thought without questioning it.

Just because a negative thought pops into your head doesn't mean it’s true. Challenge it every single time.
